Paperwork was the same everywhere, he thought grimly as he stared down at the stack that had been brought to his office just that morning.
There were so many recruitments to be approved, so many officers to be discharged and letters to be written.
He didn't have time to think about things he shouldn't be thinking about.
That was exactly the way he wanted it…
Fickle lifted its head just as there was a knock on the door.
"Sir, I have more letters for you." Nathan Sulley, his new assistant, called out.
"Come in."
His blonde assistant with hardened blue eyes stepped in, holding a fresh stack of letters.
More paperwork.
Theodore rubbed his eyes.
He was now certain there was a conspiracy somewhere - they wanted to make him do all their work as a penalty for withdrawing from his post for nearly three years.
After setting down the stack on the table, Sulley performed his salute before taking his leave.
And he was alone again.
