The rest of the Black Iron Rhinos didn't wait.
The moment Roman stepped far enough into the territory, they came, a dozen of them charging forward with the kind of force that made the ground beneath his feet vibrate with every step they took. Their iron skin caught the moonlight and threw it back in dull, heavy gleams, and the sound of them moving together was something between thunder and the collapse of a building.
Roman didn't move back.
He stood there, watching them come, and then he looked to his left and his right at the four figures that had appeared beside him.
The Goblin King stood at his left, hunched and sharp-eyed, its crooked crown still sitting at an angle like it had never been straightened since the day Roman first encountered it. The Blade Ant Queen was on the other side, still and tall, her bladed limbs catching the same moonlight as the Rhinos.
