Chapter 6 - THE ICE GUARDIAN

The ancient tower of Frostvale stood at the center of a frozen valley.

It was tall, made of pale stone covered in thick layers of ice.

Strange runes glowed faintly along its walls.

Arian and the others approached carefully.

"This place feels abandoned," Draven said.

Arkon shook his head.

"No."

"Places like this are never truly empty."

Lyra suddenly pointed toward the ground.

Huge footprints were visible in the snow.

Each footprint was almost the size of a shield.

"That's… not normal," she said.

Suddenly, the ground shook.

A deep roar echoed across the frozen valley.

A massive creature rose from behind the tower.

It was enormous—almost three times the height of a house.

Its body was made entirely of ice and stone.

Glowing blue eyes stared at the travelers.

Arkon sighed.

"The Ice Guardian."

Draven slowly drew both of his swords.

"Well… that explains the footprints."

The giant guardian lifted its arm and slammed it into the ground.

A wave of ice shot across the valley.

"Move!" Arian shouted.

Everyone jumped aside as the frozen spikes crashed into the snow.

Lyra raised her hands.

Blue magical energy burst forward.

Her spell struck the guardian's chest.

But the ice creature barely moved.

"It's too strong!" Lyra warned.

Draven charged forward anyway.

His swords flashed as he struck the guardian's leg.

Cracks appeared in the ice.

But the giant swung its arm and knocked Draven backward.

Arian quickly helped him up.

"You alright?"

Draven groaned.

"I've fought worse."

Arkon stepped forward and raised his staff high.

Ancient golden runes appeared in the sky.

"The guardian protects the tower," Arkon said.

"Then we must prove we are not its enemies."

He channeled powerful magic toward the creature.

The golden light surrounded the guardian.

Slowly… the giant stopped attacking.

Its glowing eyes dimmed slightly.

After a few tense seconds, the Ice Guardian stepped aside from the tower entrance.

Lyra exhaled in relief.

"It's letting us pass."

Arian looked toward the ancient tower.

Somewhere inside, another Abyss Shard might be waiting.

But deep within the shadows of the tower…

Something else was also waiting for them.

And their real challenge had only just begun.
