Chapter 17 - What are you-

The passengers were eventually separated.

One by one, the armed men led them down a dim hallway and pushed each of them into different guest rooms.

"Stay inside," one of the guards ordered coldly. "Don't try anything."

The door shut with a heavy click.

Adam looked around the small room. It was simple—just a bed, a chair, and a small window covered with metal bars.

Nothing luxurious.

But not a prison either.

Interesting.

A few minutes later, the door opened again.

Aria stepped inside.

Before Adam could say anything—

She suddenly grabbed him and pulled him forward, pressing him flush against her.

His back hit the wall lightly.

For a moment, he looked genuinely surprised.

"Aria—"

She quickly placed a finger against his lips.

"Shh."

Her voice was barely above a whisper.

Outside the door, footsteps passed by.

They both stayed completely still.

Aria kept him close, her hand gripping his sleeve tightly so there wouldn't be any movement that could make noise.

The hallway grew quiet again.

Slowly, she lowered her hand.

Adam frowned slightly.

"What are you—"

Before he could finish, Aria whispered quickly,

"They're listening."

Adam's eyes sharpened immediately.

She leaned closer and spoke softly near his ear so her voice wouldn't carry.

"These rooms are probably monitored."

Adam glanced subtly around the room.

The corners.

The vents.

The small light fixture above the door.

Yes.

Very possible.

Aria stepped back slightly but still kept her voice low.

"So whatever you're planning," she said quietly, "don't say it out loud."

Adam stayed silent for a moment.

Then a faint smile appeared.

"Good observation."

Aria crossed her arms.

"Don't compliment me."

He tilted his head slightly.

"Why not?"

She gave him a flat look.

"Because you still look like you're about to do something insane."

Adam looked toward the door.

His mind was already moving.

Plans forming.

Possibilities unfolding.

Then he spoke calmly.

"You're wrong."

Aria narrowed her eyes.

"Oh really?"

Adam looked back at her.

"I'm not about to do something insane."

A small pause.

Then he added,

"I'm about to do something unpredictable."

Aria stared at him for a few seconds.

Then she sighed.

"…That's worse."
