Chapter 2 - Waking Up Beside a Stranger

Chapter 2: Waking Up Beside a Stranger

Sunlight streamed through the tall glass windows, warming the enormous bedroom.

Emily Carter stirred slightly, her head pounding as if a drum were beating inside it. She groaned and pressed her hand against her forehead.

"What… happened last night?" she murmured weakly.

Her eyes slowly opened.

The first thing she noticed was the ceiling—smooth, white, and decorated with elegant crystal lights. It was definitely not the cheap ceiling in her small apartment.

Confused, Emily sat up quickly.

The bed beneath her was huge and unbelievably soft. The room around her looked like something from a luxury magazine—marble floors, expensive furniture, and a breathtaking view of the city skyline.

Her heart began to race.

"Where am I?" she whispered.

Just as she was about to get out of bed, she felt a sudden movement beside her.

Emily froze.

Very slowly, she turned her head.

Her eyes widened in horror.

A man was lying next to her.

Not just any man.

It was the same cold, incredibly handsome man she had met at the bar the night before—the billionaire everyone in the city talked about.

Alexander Knight.

He was still asleep, his sharp features relaxed. His dark hair fell slightly over his forehead, making him look both intimidating and dangerously attractive.

Emily's face turned bright red.

"Why… why is he in my bed?" she whispered in panic.

Her mind raced, trying to remember what had happened after they met at the bar.

But everything was blurry.

Suddenly, something shiny on her hand caught her attention.

Emily slowly lifted her left hand.

A diamond ring sparkled on her finger.

Her heart nearly stopped.

"No… this can't be real," she said, her voice shaking.

Before she could process what it meant, the man beside her moved.

Alexander Knight slowly opened his dark eyes.

For a moment, he looked at her calmly, as if waking up beside a stranger was completely normal.

Then his gaze dropped to the ring on her finger.

A faint smirk appeared on his lips.

"Good morning," he said in a deep, steady voice.

Emily stared at him, completely stunned.

Alexander leaned back against the pillow, his expression unreadable.

"Good morning… wife."
