-Give back those keys.
-Change the locks, I am at the airport.
-Are these things even allowed?
-I follow the law you know.
-Thanks!
-Thank Krattin as well. Been walking around the mall all afternoon.
Krattin was our family butler. We used to call him uncle until we grew up and then he refused. So we call him by his name now. Uncle makes him feel old. I think it's the same way our parents don't like being called mom and dad in public.
"These?"
"Use them as you see fit."
-That your roommate?
-Don't get nosy man.
-Fine!
Though who am I kidding? He got me this room, he could get into my roommates background and everything unless I put a stop to it. I don't want him doing it, I don't even want Blane meeting my friends and they are apparently family.
Brushing of teeth, a glass of warm milk and a brown teddy with a missing eye later and Blane was nodding off in his bed. We'd arranged books and uniform...checked schedules as well before that first nap. Good thing Arachner had brought in groceries and appliances. There had even been a note from Krattin reminding me not to pull pieces apart.
I had done that in highschool. Our parents had wanted me to leave home early so they could take that break earlier on and the best place for me to stay was at Arachner's.
Day one I'd come back from school, bored with nothing to do and my good brother was at work somewhere.
Pliers, screwdriver...these were necessities that didn't miss in my bag. From the stereo that was a different model than I had opened before to the iron box, the washing machine... the house had been full of missing parts. The various things were found intact but someone might have gotten electrocuted.
From then on, I'd been banned from his place. My sister didn't want me at hers so our parents had to invite me back home.
Around midnight, the same weight was back. I wanted to question but I was in and out of sleep, too tired thus I let it be. Afterall, other than the normal reaction as a man, it wasn't hurting anyone. I just wish this kid knew how much that 'normal' hurting was hurtful.
First thing I think I know about my course is that people are too loud. I'd dropped Blane off at his building. Other than people following him with their eyes and a senior or three stopping him, it was quite normal. Though I need to look into those seniors.
"Hey!"
Maybe I now know why. Friends who carry around clout without meaning to.
"Why are you here? Don't you have lessons to prepare for?"
"We haven't met in three long days."
"Hi!"
Our small group of five turned to the speaker. Medium height, quite a looker.
"Are you in engineering?"
"No!"
But he was still standing there.
"What do you want?"
Typical Quint, but that was a question I also wanted to know the answer to.
"You wouldn't be here before classes begin when you aren't taking this course so I am waiting for that. Though I realize this isn't the greatest thing for me to do. But then..."
"Get to the point man."
"What my friend is trying to ask is whether anyone of you is interested in the newbie..."
"Not at all."
I think all of us were lost the moment she said interested. She was also pretty but looked like someone who'd want to sell people's looks. I've met those before...
"You could have let them finish."
"Are you interested in the board?"
"No! We were doing something. You were being rude, not everyone takes that kindly."
Okay Barnard, I don't believe you're not checking both of them out at the moment but fine...they were rude anyway.
"What did you guys want exactly?"
I am taking this course so these ants and butterflies would soon want to partake a feast...one I didn't want to join. A folder was handed over. I turned to Barnard raising a brow, seriously, day one of school?
We walked to a shade and sat around a table. There were numerous groups sat and talking loud but our table was silent.
"What's this?"
"The casino thing we talked about. You said we needed a business plan... what do you think?"
"You think the beginning of a semester is the best time for this?"
"There's no other time. We are more free now so you might be away a lot."
"And we need a little more shares like always."
I'd have believed them if there weren't little investments looking at me each time. We were friends but it seemed I was more 'moneymaker' to them. I'd told them to all think carefully before each brought there plan over to me, hadn't thought it'd be this soon. These lazy people had gotten themselves on the side of business now.
"Five week buffer before I look into it."
"Not three, it's always three."
"You can have it back."
"Five is good."
I turned to the other three who each pushed folders forward...see moneymaker.
They get shares and pocket money, realize they can't use all so they return it in form of a second proposal. And they thought they weren't business savvy.
"Gotten back to photography Kristoff?"
"My dad..."
"We'd talked the day he found out and he was cool with it."
"Fine, but I still fear his fine lady."
"She's still your mom."
