A poor boy named Arjun lived in a small village. His father was a farmer and life was very difficult. Arjun wanted to study, but sometimes he had to work to help his family.
One day his school announced a big scholarship exam. The winner would get free education in a good city school. Arjun decided to try, but many students laughed at him.
They said, "You are just a village boy. You cannot win."
But Arjun studied every night. Even when there was no electricity, he studied under a small lamp.
The exam day came. Arjun gave his best. After a few weeks, the result was announced. Surprisingly, Arjun got the first rank.
