After politely declining the enthusiastic offerings from the citizens and vendors, Carlisle continued walking down the street when suddenly, a cry for help rang out: "Help me!" Carlisle's expression changed, and he swiftly leaped into the air by stepping on it, his mind like a radar detecting the direction of the cry. He saw it! A small boy had fallen in the middle of the road, and a rapidly approaching dragon carriage was oblivious to the danger ahead. Time seemed to freeze at that moment as the shadow of the dragon carriage loomed over the boy.
Carlisle's aura erupted, and his figure transformed into a blur in an instant. Just as the heavy wheels of the dragon carriage were about to run over the little boy, Carlisle appeared beside him, wrapping his arms around the small body, holding him tightly. Then, he spun around, his clothes fluttering, and lightly glided to the side with the boy, narrowly avoiding the carriage's crush. As the dust settled, only the lingering roar of the dragon carriage echoed through the street, and Carlisle stood steadily by the roadside, the boy in his arms safe and sound.
"Are you alright? Not hurt, are you?"
"Waaah… Thank you…"
Carlisle gently comforted the boy, who was sobbing from fear, patting his shoulder lightly and reassuring him in a low voice.
"It's alright now, I'll protect you."
Passersby on the street who witnessed the scene stopped in their tracks, and applause and cheers surged like a tide. Some shouted, "Hero!" while others exclaimed, "How amazing!" Praises rose one after another, as if the entire street was buzzing with excitement for Carlisle's heroic act.
What Carlisle didn't notice was a figure among the cheering crowd, whose style was completely out of place with the people of this Another World, looking at him with an expression of longing.
She was a striking young girl with long, jet-black hair that cascaded over her shoulders. Her skin was fair, a delicate feature rarely seen in this medieval-like Another World except among nobles or wealthy young ladies. Her eyes were a brilliant gold, reflecting a hint of sharpness and ferocity, yet softened into a "cute fierceness" by her delicate, adorable face.
However, what was most eye-catching was her outfit, which looked completely out of place in this world. She wore a casual black and orange track jacket with white stripes running down the sleeves, paired with dark athletic pants and worn sneakers. The sporty design gave off the unmistakable vibe of modern Earth streetwear, something that clearly didn't belong in this medieval-like world.
If Carlisle had seen this attire, he would surely have exclaimed, "Isn't that some kind of sportswear?!"
The girl, Natsuki Subaru, was a lively teenager from Japan. Recently, she had stopped going to school altogether and spent most of her days shut inside at home. That night, she had simply gone out to a nearby convenience store to buy some snacks. But on the way back, without warning or reason, the scenery around her changed, and she suddenly found herself standing in a completely unfamiliar world.
"How nice, an Another World where you don't even need a truck, you can just get lost in it in the blink of an eye."
Natsuki Subaru thought to herself as she watched Carlisle, surrounded by the cheering crowd.
"Speaking of which, I haven't received an apology from the god who mistakenly sent me to this world, nor have I seen the beautiful girl who summoned me. They're a bit too careless… Ah, this is bad."
Although she could escape reality in this Another World and even see such a perfect blue-haired knight bishounen, as the things she needed to confirm gradually dwindled, Subaru began to clearly realize her situation.
She had some change on her, but it was useless in this medieval world. Luckily, the language was the same, so perhaps she could avoid dying in the streets…?
After all, she was a girl, suddenly sent to Another World all alone, with no money and no one to rely on. Subaru began to come to terms with her situation.
This isn't good; if she kept thinking about it, she might just start crying in the middle of the street.
Natsuki Subaru still held a glimmer of hope that this was just a prank segment from some unscrupulous variety show. A high school girl crying in the street would immediately become a headline on a TV program.
But why hadn't they come out yet? The variety show staff holding up the "Prank Successfully Completed" sign, was her surprised expression not enough?… It's over, the tears seem to be uncontrollable.
Fearing that others would see her like this, Subaru hurriedly left the main street and slipped into an alley. She pressed her forehead against the wall, covered her mouth, and began to sob.
"Waaah… Dad… Mom…"
Tears, like broken pearls, silently streamed down the girl's cheeks. Her golden pupils shimmered with helplessness and confusion. A fear called "insecurity" slowly gnawed at her heart.
"Yo, beautiful lady, why are you crying? Perhaps if you hand over all your money, we might be able to help you out."
Natsuki Subaru lifted her tear-filled eyes and looked towards the source of the voice. The alley entrance was blocked by three figures, who were staring at her with an impolite gaze, as if appraising prey.
