Chapter 1 - LAMTA THANGJA.

I was a eight years of then, sitting near a Manipuri traditional things like a heater which the fire is ignited by lighting charcoal(meifu),the weather was mildly cold as it just turn feb to march. My mom sat with me and began to narrate a traditional folk tale called "Henjunaha".Once upon a time, there was a boy called Henjunaha he was a charming and really obedient boy of a mother who lost her husband long time ago.As he was roaming around the village he spotted a very pretty girl playing with water in ponds with her friends. The girl giving a hint of loving back ,smiled at him. They began to talk n got closer. One day,the girl called him aside and told him to meet her at the very midnight.

When the night felt he asked his mother whether he could go.His mom began to speak...today is "Lamta thangja" (starting of march..where there's a myth evil spirits freely roam around at those days,so people in Manipur pray for their safety and do some ritual to let them go back to their own places.Every men will come back home early after works and women will call in their children as the sun starts to set.

His mom continued "dear you really shouldn't go outside the house specially today's late night....and if you had to,take the swords beside you it'll keep you safe".

Henjunaha look at the long shiny sword beside him and nodded.

When his mother was asleep he couldn't help but opened his eyes thinking whether he should go to meet his love because he feared she would be waiting for a long time.He jumped off the bed his thought firm and clear grabbed the swords and looked at his mother "Ema (mother),Your son is going to meet his love please forgive me" and ran away.

He song his swords while running to protect from any evil entities. Unfortunately,he'd to cross the deep forest to reach his love (mahaki nuja-in Manipuri =his love).

A reminder the group of evil spirits are always available at places like forests, corners,or places where it has four directions of roads joined.

He never stepped back but swong his sword hastily to reach his destination.Let's say he was a very unlucky person,he met the evil entities they dont have clear shape like a smokey black figure with bright colours of eyes..they are tall and slim and they were murmuring to each other in an unrecognizable language..Henjunaha was taken aback but he cant go back he'd come so far it was difficult for him to run back so he ran as fast as he could and the entities were following him..they were fast but couldn't touch him as the swords was protecting him from getting touched by undesirable entities.

He eventually reach the girl's house but tripped before reaching the home where his swords felt apart from his grip....he kept shouting the girl's name as he was dragged slowly by the entities in the forest.

He was unfortunately died.

But rumours says the girl he met at the morning was not the real girl Henjunaha knew because he dragged his hand in a corner where nobody could see to talk about the midnight plan.

This sounds horrific as this tale was told on the day "Lamta thangja" but as it's a folk tale to lure children to get in the house at the earliest,i was scared but didnt believe until the night came and everyone felt asleep...

The incident after this is real story but it'd be on the next chapter stay tune guys.Hope you guys enjoy what I'd shared on the( chapter1).

Ifthere's any grammatical mistakes please forgive me guys.
