Chapter 168 - Chapter 168 Thugs Fighting

After Ash gave each of the three bratty ambushers a "giant injection" as a grand prize, a middle-aged uncle finally rushed over. Seeing Ash holding a comically oversized syringe, seemingly ready to jab the three kids, the uncle took a terrified step back.

"Hmm? Are you the guardian of these three?"

Seeing the uncle, Ash pulled out a fourth syringe. It looked as if he would immediately start stabbing the moment the man said yes.

"We are so sorry! They made a mistake!"

Although Ash's syringe was highly intimidating, for the sake of the three kids' behinds, the uncle stepped forward and pleaded, "I am very sorry! Please come with me. I will explain everything and formally apologize to you!"

Ash looked at the uncle, then glanced at the three brats who had been thoroughly taught a lesson by his syringe attacks, and nodded.

"Fine. I hope you have a reasonable explanation. Otherwise, I'll let you experience the true terror of a doctor."

"I'm really sorry for the trouble we've caused you."

After preparing some food for the group, the uncle explained with a helpless sigh.

"Actually, there's a reason everyone here is so wary of Pokémon Trainers. If you look at how dilapidated our Dark City is, you've probably noticed the problem, right?"

Ash and the group looked at the ruined streets outside, then at the deserted state of the restaurant, and couldn't help but nod.

Lara looked outside and said, "It's obvious these are traces left behind after battles."

The uncle cast a surprised glance at Lara, then nodded. "Exactly. All of this is because of the Yas Gym and the Kaz Gym here."

"Yas Gym and Kaz Gym? I've never heard of these two gyms. Have you heard of them, Brock?" Misty asked. After all, she was one of the gym leaders of the Cerulean Gym and generally knew about most standard gyms. However, she had genuinely never heard of Yas and Kaz. Naturally, she turned to Brock, a fellow Gym Leader.

Brock pondered the names for a long moment before shaking his head. "Never heard of them."

The uncle looked at them and sighed. "It's normal that you haven't. After all, they aren't official gyms yet. The two of them are constantly at war just to become the official gym of the city."

At this point, one of the kids, clutching his sore butt, yelled at Ash and the others. "That's why Pokémon Trainers are all bad guys!"

Thwack!

"I fell down..."

Ash brought his fist down, once again teaching the kid how to behave.

"Don't just randomly define people. Otherwise, I'll beat you up."

Seeing this, another kid quickly ran over and cried, "You're already beating people up!"

Thwack!

"You know too much."

After finishing his sentence, Ash turned his gaze to the last remaining kid.

"How about... you keep them company?"

"I'm sorry, big brother!"

Seeing the thoroughly cowed kid, Ash nodded in satisfaction.

Right at that moment, the sound of a loud commotion erupted outside. Upon hearing this, the uncle's face instantly changed color.

"You guys need to go upstairs quickly! You're trainers; it's too easy for you to get dragged into this fight."

Hearing the uncle's warning, Ash silently glanced to the other side of the room. There sat a person completely bundled up in disguise. Upon realizing Ash was staring, a few drops of cold sweat formed on the stranger's forehead.

"I say, why don't you head up first too?"

Being called out by Ash made the person panic even more. Ash just watched her calmly.

"What are you talking about? I don't know you!"

"Even if you want to use a disguise, at least wear a wig. And don't you think drinking coffee with a face mask on is a bit too suspicious?"

"This..."

Before the disguised person could figure out what to say, the two factions outside had already started fighting.

"Go, Electabuzz! Use Thunderbolt!"

"Get in there, Scyther! Use Slash!"

Soon after, the continuous sounds of various attacks echoed from outside. What left everyone speechless was that these guys were basically just having a massive gang brawl.

"I sort of understand why the people here hate trainers now. These guys are even worse than street thugs!"

Ash finally completely understood why the locals despised trainers. This was entirely the fault of these hoodlums throwing street fights!
