Several students looked surprised.

"The only force capable of bending space and time is gravity."

She began pacing slowly.

"Ancient Forgemasters discovered that earth and air magic were the minimum requirements needed to generate such powerful gravitational effects."

"However, creating gravity is only the beginning."

She continued.

"To stabilize it, make it reproducible, and allow precise control over it, all six elements became necessary."

Her eyes brightened.

"It's a field of research that remains active to this day. There are still countless mysteries waiting to be solved."

Ash nodded thoughtfully.

As he processed the explanation, Raphael immediately began comparing it to the scientific knowledge stored within his memory.

"I think I understand," Ash thought.

"Earth and air magic likely generate the gravitational distortion itself."

"Lightning may be used to create resonance and improve control, amplifying the effect enough to influence space."

"Fire and water probably regulate energy fluctuations and prevent dangerous side effects such as extreme temperature shifts, vacuum formation, or structural collapse."

He paused.

"But I still have no idea what light and darkness contribute."

Unlike the other elements, those two had never existed on Earth in any form comparable to magic.

For once, modern science offered no answers.

And that only made the subject even more interesting.

During the remainder of the lesson, Professor Wanemyre explained how the rest of the course would be conducted.

She made it clear that none of the students would be allowed inside the practical training hall again until they had mastered the theoretical foundations of Forgemastering.

Allowing inexperienced students to experiment with magic circles was simply too dangerous. High-density mana was extremely volatile, and even a minor mistake could result in a powerful explosion if the energy was not properly controlled.

For that reason, the first part of the course would focus entirely on theory.

The students would need to learn the principles behind Forgemastering, memorize the basic runes, and understand the purpose and function of each one.

Afterward, they would study how different runes interacted with one another and how to combine them into complete enchantment patterns.

Only once they could reliably reproduce all the basic enchanted items would they be allowed to move on to practical crafting.

Professor Wanemyre also warned them that the tests would not be easy.

Many students failed the Forgemastery specialization every year because they underestimated the amount of study and precision required.

Unlike elemental magic, where mistakes often resulted in a failed spell, mistakes in Forgemastering could permanently ruin valuable materials and waste enormous amounts of mana.

"Precision is everything," she said. "A single mistake in a rune can destroy hours of work."

The room became noticeably quieter after hearing that.

"Only those who successfully pass all the examinations will be admitted into the fifth-year curriculum."

She paused for emphasis.

"That is where true Forgemastering begins."

Several students immediately straightened in their seats.

"Fifth-year students learn how to combine multiple enchantments into a single item. They study advanced rune interactions, enchantment layering, and the creation of complex magical artifacts."

A faint smile appeared on her face.

"By that point, you will no longer be creating simple tools. You will be creating treasures."

The statement captured everyone's attention.

Even Ash found himself interested.

Creating a single magical property was already impressive.

Combining several different enchantments into one item while keeping them stable was a completely different challenge.

As the lesson drew to a close, most students looked overwhelmed by the amount of knowledge they would need to learn.

Ash, however, felt excited.

Forgemastering

Forgemastering was far more complicated than Ash had initially expected.

Which only made it more worthwhile to learn.

Soon, the class came to an end.

Ash and Lith went their separate ways. Lith had no more classes for the day, but Ash still had one final specialization to attend.

Battle Mage.

It was a specialization focused entirely on combat, and that was precisely why Ash had chosen it.

When he arrived at the training hall, he found that many students had already gathered there. Their professor was also present, carefully inspecting the training weapons stored on a large rack along one side of the room.

Professor Verhen Wilhelm was a tall, muscular man who looked every bit the veteran soldier. His broad shoulders, numerous scars, and disciplined posture made it obvious that he had spent years on battlefields rather than in classrooms.

He was responsible for teaching Battle Magic and also instructed fifth-year Forgemastery students.

As soon as the scheduled time arrived, the professor snapped his fingers.

Bang!

The hall doors slammed shut.

Several students jumped in surprise.

"I do not tolerate people who fail to respect my schedule," he said, sweeping the room with sharp, hawk-like eyes.

The hall immediately fell silent.

"Now then, let me introduce myself properly."

He crossed his arms.

"My name is Verhen Wilhelm, and I'll be in charge of turning you bean sprouts into proper Battle Mages."

A few students chuckled nervously.

"Battle Mages are among the elite fighters of the magical world. They combine weapons and magic into a single fighting style, allowing them to challenge opponents that would overwhelm ordinary mages."

He grinned.

"Of course, achieving that requires a ridiculous amount of training."

Several students groaned.

"Good. At least you're smart enough to understand that."

He pointed toward the weapon racks.

"Now choose a weapon. Any weapon."

The students immediately moved toward the racks.

There were swords, spears, axes, maces, staffs, shields, daggers, and many other training weapons available.

Ash examined the selection carefully before making his choice.

He picked a long sword and a short dagger.

The combination drew a few curious looks.

Most students chose a single weapon.

Ash, however, preferred dual wielding.

His strongest style involved using a longer blade in one hand while wielding a shorter weapon in the other.

The shorter blade could be used for quick attacks, defense, feints, and creating openings.

It was a fighting style he had gradually developed while sparring with Saber.

Most of the time, when using Aura, he could switch between different weapons and styles as needed.

However, he couldn't reveal those abilities here without raising uncomfortable questions.

For now, he would have to rely purely on skill.

Fortunately, that was more than enough.

As Ash tested the balance of the training sword and dagger, Professor Wilhelm's eyes briefly lingered on him.

Unlike most students, Ash held his weapons with the ease of someone who had used them for years.

The professor smiled slightly.

It seemed he had at least one student who wasn't completely new to armed combat.
