Chapter 32 - Chapter 33-split the check

The morning after the gala, the phones at the Jones Firm didn't just ring; they chimed incessantly with the sound of a changing tide. The mystery of the "Subway Protege" and the undeniable box-office power of the "Duo" had created a vacuum that every studio in Hollywood was desperate to fill.

The Keanu BreakthroughAnastasia sat at the head of the dining table, three thick scripts fanned out before her. She had already discarded two. Her eyes were fixed on a project from a young, visionary director who wanted to craft a high-concept sci-fi thriller.

"Keanu, come here," Anastasia called.

He sat down, looking much more rested than he had on the subway. Sarah stepped forward with the financial breakdown.

"This is the offer for a film called Ghost Protocol," Sarah explained. "Because of the heat the Firm has put on you, we've bypassed the 'extra' roles. They want you for the lead. The offer is $150,000 upfront, with a guaranteed 2% of the net profits."

Keanu looked at the script, then at Anastasia. "You think I'm ready for a lead?"

"I don't think; I know," Anastasia replied. "But we aren't accepting $150,000. Sarah is countering at $225,000 with a 'favored nations' clause. If any other lead in the film gets a bump, you get one too. You're going to be the face of a new genre, Keanu. We're going to build your career on intelligence, not just looks."

The Icon's AscentJust as Keanu was absorbing the reality of his new life, Beth walked in, holding a courier envelope sealed with a gold wax stamp. She looked at Cameron with a triumphant grin.

"And for the Oscar-nominated Leading Lady," Beth announced, sliding a heavy manuscript onto the table. "An offer from Paramount."

Cameron opened the envelope. It wasn't just a script; it was a formal invitation for a sprawling, multi-continental epic titled The Silver Horizon. It was a role designed for an icon—a woman who was both a warrior and a diplomat, set against the backdrop of a changing 1920s world.

"The offer is a guaranteed $1.2 million," Sarah said, her voice clinical but proud. "Plus 5% of the gross income. Cameron, this is the highest salary ever offered to a woman of your experience level in 1985. You aren't just a star anymore; you're a blue-chip asset."

The Silent CelebrationCameron looked at the number on the page, then at Anastasia. The "burn" in her chest wasn't jealous or frantic—it was deep, steady, and filled with a sense of immense accomplishment. She had gone from a model with a dream to a million-dollar actress under the protection of the Firm.

"We're both going to be on set at the same time," Cameron realized, looking at Keanu and then back to the sisters.

"On different continents," Anastasia noted, her mind already calculating the logistics. "But the Firm will be split. I'll be with you for the first half of The Silver Horizon to ensure the director respects the creative notes. Sarah will handle Keanu's contract finalization in LA, and Beth will coordinate the PR for both."

The Expansion of the CircleThat evening, the group gathered on the balcony. They had two leading roles, millions in pending contracts, and a stock portfolio in Apple and Oracle that was quietly growing by the hour.

"To the Firm," Cameron said, raising a glass of sparkling cider. "To being the architects of our own fate."

"To the circle," Keanu added, looking at the women who had plucked him from obscurity and turned him into a protagonist.

Anastasia watched them, her forest-green eyes reflecting the lights of the city. She was sixteen years old, and she had effectively re-mapped the power structure of an entire industry. She wasn't just managing actors; she was curate-ing a new reality.

"This is just the first layer," Anastasia whispered, more to herself than the others. "The world is getting smaller, and we're the ones holding the map."
