Chapter 5 - Chapter 5- Mystery

Chapter 5- Mystery

Since he was intending to wait, Zephyr decided to explore the place she sent him to. He had only seen the room, which indicated that he was a well-off person. The first thing he did, however, was to inspect his body.

Looking down, all he saw was a short, obese young man, most likely no more than 17 years of age. His clothes were sweaty, and his hair was long and oily.

"Interesting choice for a body." He muttered as he walked to the mirror on the other side. There, what he saw reflected in the mirror was simply pitiful. The boy wasn't particularly good-looking, except for his unique purple eyes.

His skin was pale and sickly, filled with acne and scars. His lips were chapped, and he looked like he hadn't seen the sun in ages.

"Well, this is what I have to work with for now until Astra comes back." He rubbed his chin. "Let me find some information about this boy. I should have some stored in my mind."

Closing his eyes, Zephyr wandered through the endless library that is his mind. In it, he knew the name and information of every single being in existence, whether that's an ant or a full-fledged human. As long as they exist, he would know them, because he's a deity. Navigating that large maze wasn't that hard, all he needed was a simple thought and things would happen.

Except…

"Huh?" Zephyr's eyes shot open. The second shocking realization hit him. "I… can't find anything about this boy in my mind?"

He said, almost in disbelief. How could that be? He should know of this boy's existence. If he exists, that means he should know. Yet, no matter how much he looked around, he found nothing about him. Not even his name.

Zephyr's eyes stared down as his mind worked in overdrive. This wasn't normal whatsoever. Then, he looked up and rushed to the window and pulled the curtains quickly. A beautiful city skyline welcomed him in the distance.

He was in a high rise so he could overlook everything. It was a gigantic, modern city, with cars moving everywhere around him. The sky was a beautiful blue with the sun high up above the city.

In the far distance, Zephyr could see what he could only describe as floating chunks of land… Akin to islands. There were a good number of them riddling the sky.

Yet, that didn't matter at all to Zeph. All he could think about at that moment was one thing and one thing only…

"I… I don't know this world. I can't remember anything about it either."

He took a step back from the window, his face frowning visibly. "I don't know what's happening anymore."

Everything was just incomprehensible. He lost contact with his wife, then he couldn't even remember anything about the identity of this boy he took over or the world he was sent to, even though his knowledge was completely intact.

If that didn't raise alarm bells in his head, then he didn't know what could.

Exhaling a long breath, Zephyr walked back to the bed and sat down, resting his face on his hands as he tried to think of an answer to all of this. He needed Astra to reply quickly. Each passing second only filled him with more worry and more fear for her.

His wife was his entire world, and making sure is his utmost priority, even more than his own safety.

'If only I had the ability to go back to the Divine Garden.' He clicked his tongue. He had trusted Astra with full control over his body because to him, she was his other half; both of them controlled each other's bodies, and they let their guard fully down for each other.

Never in his wildest imagination did he think that would cause a problem. Who could even rival them? They were the strongest entities in the world by far. They killed all their enemies a long time ago. No one is left to pose a threat to them.

'... No one is left to pose a threat… No one…' Zephyr squinted his eyes for a second as he felt a spark in his head. Then, like a lightning strike, an idea suddenly formed in his head.

"Could this be…" He whispered. "It should be impossible. But it would explain why I don't know anything about this place. Is this some sort of hidden realm we didn't know about? One that isn't under our control?"

As ridiculous as that idea sounds, it felt like it made sense. Perhaps that is where he was, a realm that he didn't even know about. One that remained under his radar this entire time.

'But, then again, even if that was the case, it didn't explain why Astra would send me here in the first place.' He crossed his arms, thinking deeply about it.

The more Zephyr contemplated, the more he felt like things didn't make sense. Something was amiss; a key detail wasn't there to fit the puzzle. But, either way, Zephyr knew one thing and one thing only.

'I need to get back to the Divine Garden immediately.'

But, that was easier said than done. With his powers outside his control, in a world he don't know yet, he had to somehow gain enough power to control dimensions and pass through to the Divine Garden.

"Sigh." Rubbing his temples, he looked up, ready to go out and at least check his environment. He needed to gather as much information as possible, as soon as possible.

However, right when he was about to stand up, something appeared in his vision.

As those words appeared, Zephyr felt new information flood his mind. He blinked as all the memories, images, names, and everything else entered his head.

'These…' He squinted his eyes. 'The boy's memories?'

Letting the process happen, Zephyr stood there for a few seconds. When everything finally stopped, and he could see what he received, a whole new world had opened for him.

His first theory… was correct.

'This is definitely not a world we control.' Zephyr muttered. 'Its name is… The Eternal Realm.'

That was a name he had never heard of, and judging from the boy's memories, this world was incredibly gigantic, far more than most realms, if not all.

Rummaging through these new memories, Zephyr understood everything about the boy. Now that he had all his memories and experiences, he realized what was happening, and he was… disappointed.

He had been given the weakest body possible, of a terminally ill boy who died in his sleep. His body was impossibly useless, with basically no advantages. Social position? He belonged to a rather rich family, but due to his sickness, the boy was treated like a disposable dummy, thrown in a room of his own to rot to death as his days passed.

'Nothing. I have nothing to work with. Great, as if I can spare the time right now.' He sighed. 'Anyway, this boy's name is… Kaelen Silversoul.'
