Chapter 1 - The Light of the Last Evening: chapter-1

The Light of the Last Evening

The village was called Shalbon. It was surrounded by green paddy fields, small muddy roads, and the sweet sounds of birds. The evenings there were especially beautiful.

In that village lived a quiet boy named Raihan. Since childhood, he loved sitting beside the river and looking at the sky.

One evening, while sitting near the river, Raihan saw a girl walking slowly along the path. She was holding a few books in her hands. Sometimes she stopped and looked at the flowing river.

Raihan looked at her with curiosity.

The girl's name was Maya.

Even though it was their first meeting, it strangely felt like they had known each other for a long time. As Maya walked past him, she gave a gentle smile. That small smile created a strange feeling in Raihan's heart.

The next day Raihan again went to the river in the evening. Somehow he felt that maybe he would see Maya again.

And he did.

After a while Maya appeared. This time she spoke first.

"Do you sit here every day?" she asked softly.

Raihan smiled shyly and replied,

"Yes… I feel peaceful when I sit here."

That day was the beginning of their story.

Every evening they met beside the river. They talked, laughed, and shared their dreams.

Maya said that one day she wanted to study in the city.

Raihan said that he wanted to become a writer.

One day Maya asked him,

"If you become a writer, will you write my story too?"

Raihan smiled and said,

"Your story is already my favorite story."

Time slowly passed by. But happy moments always seem to end quickly.

One day Maya looked very quiet. Raihan noticed and asked,

"What happened?"

Maya spoke slowly,

"We have to move to the city. My father got a job there."

It felt like a sudden storm in Raihan's heart. He didn't know what to say.

The next day was the day Maya would leave the village. In the evening they met by the river one last time.

Maya looked at Raihan and said,

"You will become a writer, right?"

Raihan nodded.

Then Maya said,

"Remember one thing… if you ever miss me, write a story about me."

The red sun was slowly setting in the sky. The soft golden light spread across the river.

Maya slowly walked away.

Years passed.

Raihan really became a writer. Many people started reading his stories. But among all his stories, one story was very special.

The name of that story was "The Light of the Last Evening."

In that story there was a river, a village, and a girl's smile.

A smile that still lives in Raihan's heart.

Even today, when the light of the last evening spreads across the sky, Raihan sometimes stands by the river.

And deep in his heart, he feels that maybe one day Maya will return.

And if that day ever comes, he will write a new story again.
