Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

"Waa... Wahhh... Wahh..."

"There, there. Mommy and Daddy are here."

"My beautiful red-eyed child, there's nothing to fear."

The newborn's cries soften. Slowly, his tiny eyelids flutter open, revealing the world for the very first time.

And who is this child, you wonder? None other than Sirus.

'What's with all this noise? Huh? Wh... Where am I?'

Sirus blinks blearily, glancing down at his plump, uncoordinated baby hands. Then he looks up. Towering above him like gentle giants are two unfamiliar faces, both beaming with joy.

'These people… Who are they?'

His cries cease. A silence falls over the room as Sirus stares upward, eyes wide with confusion and curiosity.

'And what's going on with my hands? Why are they so tiny... and squishy?'

The realization begins to dawn.

'I've… been reborn? That's the only explanation. Then those two… they must be my parents?'

The woman's smile grows mischievous as she leans in and whispers to the man beside her, "Oh, Hun, did you see? He stopped crying when he looked at me. Awww… He must know I'm his mommy."

The young man laughs heartily. "Of course! He's got my sharp instincts! Hahaha!"

'They're certainly enjoying this... Well, I suppose I would too if I just had a kid… I am that kid. Fantastic.'

Sirus tries to keep his eyes open, but the effort stings. Tears trickle down.

'Damn… I guess my eyes aren't used to the light yet.'

The door creaks open, and a man in a white coat steps in, clutching a textbook. His eyes scan the room warmly.

"Mrs. Sasha, Mr. Ethan—congratulations. Your son is healthy."

Sasha, the mother, gazes at Sirus with shimmering eyes, her smile trembling with joy. She turns to her husband. "Did you hear that? He's healthy! I was so worried, but everything's okay."

Ethan kisses her forehead gently, then places a soft kiss on Sirus's tiny head. "Thank you, Doctor. That's the best news I've ever heard."

The Doctor nods, a professional smile on his face. "Make sure to feed him soon. His energy levels are low, as is typical."

Sasha chuckles as she cradles her son, her voice playful. "Oh, Mommy knows! Who's Mommy's adorable little baby? You are! Yes, you are! Hahaha—"

Then, she suddenly glares at the Doctor and Ethan, lips pursed in a playful pout. "You two, look away."

They obey, turning their heads with exaggerated innocence.

Sirus's nose twitched in suspicion. A dreadful feeling sank in as Sasha began to loosen her robes.

Sasha lifts her child and begins breastfeeding.

"There now," Sasha whispers. "See how calm he is? All he needed was Mommy's milk. Hush now, my red-eyed boy... sleep."

The Doctor glances up from his notes. "Have you decided on a name?"

Ethan nudges Sasha with a smile, giving her the honor.

She nods softly. "Yes. His name will be Sirus. Sirus Rose."

The Doctor records it in his ledger.

Sirus's eyelids droop again.

Ethan watches him drift off. "He's asleep. Look, Sasha—did you notice? His eyes... They're crimson. I've never seen red that deep. I remember hearing something once… about babies born with pure-colored eyes becoming powerful beings?"

"Awww, you're just jealous," Sasha teases. "You wish your eyes were that vivid. Hahaha!"

Her laughter fades. Concern creeps into her voice. "But… you're not wrong. His eyes are strange. Too pure. I've never seen anyone in our village with eyes like that."

The Doctor rubs his chin thoughtfully. A nurse enters, whispering something into his ear. His expression changes to one of intrigue.

"Interesting… His magic aura is unusually strong—even for a newborn. Thankfully, his core is equally powerful, which explains how quickly he calmed down. But… It's strange. For a village like this, with no noble bloodlines, to produce a child with such a magic core..."

Sasha's brow furrows. "What do you mean? Neither Ethan nor I are nobles. We're just commoners."

Ethan places a hand on her shoulder. "Sasha... I don't mean to bring up old wounds, but—you were abandoned as a child. What if one of your parents was a noble?"

"I… I don't know. I never knew them," Sasha murmurs, confused.

The Doctor clears his throat sharply. "I didn't say he definitely has noble blood. But based on his magic and those eyes, it's possible. Perhaps another blood test—?"

"Yes, please. Let's confirm it," Sasha agrees. "Ethan, take Sirus while I get tested again."

Ethan gently lifts the sleeping child.

Hours pass.

The nurse returns, handing over the results.

The Doctor's eyes widened. "Incredible…"

He looks at Sasha, nearly speechless. "Your new test does show noble lineage—and not just any. There are traces of magic signatures I've only seen in the Demon Empire. Yet your earlier test, taken before the birth, showed no such thing."

Ethan exhales slowly. "Doctor… please. Keep this between us. If word spreads that a noble-blooded demon child was born here, the Empire might take notice. Or worse... the Holy Knights."

"Agreed," Sasha nods. "Please don't tell anyone about our Sirus."

The Doctor closes his book. "You have my word."

Sasha breathes out, visibly relieved. "Thank you, Doctor."
