Chapter 4 - Threat

Benito and Benita left the ballroom and headed straight to Dario's chamber. Before.Pablo, Dario's personal guard…stood there.

"We want to see our brother," Benito said firmly, though the thought that his twin had a crush on Dario sometimes irritated him.

Benita's eyes immediately lit up when she saw Pablo. "Hello, Pablo," she said, waving sweetly.

Pablo blinked, then bowed. "Greetings, Your Highnesses."

Benito scoffed. "Didn't you hear me the first time?"

"Can you stop it? Is it wrong for him to greet us?" Benita asked, frowning.

Benito muttered and tapped his foot, clearly annoyed.

"Pablo, is our brother in?" Benita asked with her cutest smile.

"Yes, Your Highness," Pablo replied, stepping aside.

"Can we go in?" she asked gently.

Benito scoffed. "Are you really going to ask permission before we go in?"

Benita ignored him and stepped forward.

Benito cast a cold glance at Pablo, who kept his head lowered.

As soon as they entered, their eyes widened in shock.

"Oh my goodness," they whispered almost in unison.

Dario and Thana were caught in a romantic embrace. Dario was on top of her, their lips locked.

Thana's heart raced—was this her first kiss? Dario's gaze flicked nervously toward the door, realizing someone had seen them.

"Oh my goodness," Benita muttered with a grin.

"It's not what you think!" Thana quickly got off the bed, her heart beat hammering against her chest.

"We aren't thinking about anything," Benita raised her hands. "In fact, we shouldn't even be here. Let's go, Benito—they need space."

"Yes, of course. Hurry up, though we want our niece and nephew soonest," Benito added, exchanging a knowing look with Benita.

"Stop! Stop!" Thana covered her face with her hands, eyes meeting Dario's briefly before they quickly looked away.

"Start talking," Benita demanded, rushing back.

"What?" Dario frowned.

"When did you start seeing each other? How?" Benito pressed. Benita nodded eagerly in agreement.

Dario poked their foreheads. "Ouch!" they winced.

"Stop spouting rubbish," Dario muttered, moving to his desk. He picked up a book and started reading, ignoring their questions.

"You haven't answered us," Benita frowned.

"How can someone read at this hour?" Benito asked, clearly frustrated.

Thana stepped in, biting her lip, and started hitting them.

"Ouch! Ouch!" They winched.

" What you saw was a mistake, stop talking nonsense!"

"Leave," Dario's cold voice cut through, halting Thana's hand.

"I hate noise. Leave," he repeated, returning to his book.

Thana looked at Benito and Benita, who still seemed reluctant to leave.

"Brother Dario, we—"

"Leave," he interrupted again.

Thana sighed. "Let's go," she said, guiding them out. Benito and Benita scowled but followed.

Dario finally let out a deep sigh and flopped onto his bed, touching his lips as he sank into thought.

Back in the ballroom, Thana and the twins regrouped.

"He seems colder today," Benita noted.

"Thana, what happened between you two?" Benito asked. Thana kept a blank expression.

"She's acting like Dario now," Benita scoffed.

Benito's attention shifted to a beautiful girl approaching them. "Wow," he muttered.

The girl bowed politely. "Greetings, Your Highnesses."

"Were you looking for me, Inna?" Thana asked.

"Yes, my Princess," Inna replied.

''Inna… such a nice name,' Benito thought.

"Who is she?" Benita asked.

"This is Inna, my personal maid. She's like a sister to me," Thana introduced.

"Maid?" Benita muttered, scrutinizing her from head to toe. She didn't look like one.

"Like I said, she's like a sister," Thana said firmly.

Benita rolled her eyes. Benito, however, couldn't look away. "I must say, you're pretty, Inna," he complimented, meeting her gaze.

For a few moments, they just stared at each other. Benito cleared his throat and stepped back.

Benita and Thana exchanged glances.

"Princess Thana," a familiar voice interrupted.

Thana turned to see Prince Javier approaching, smiling broadly. Benita rolled her eyes.

"Prince Javier," Thana said politely, bowing. She didn't like the way he looked at her, his eyes seemed possessive.

"It's nice seeing you again," Javier said, kissing her knuckle.

"The pleasure is mine," Thana replied with a feigned smile, gently pulling her hand away.

Benita tugged her along. "Let's dance, Thana," she said, sticking her tongue out at Javier as they walked off.

"That little witch," Javier muttered, clenching his fist. He turned and was a little startled because Dario stood before him, smiling. His face hardened.

"It's been a long time, brother," Dario said calmly.

"I'm not your brother, Nemesis," Javier replied coldly.

"Last I checked, we have the same father," Dario said, keeping his smile.

Javier laughed harshly. "Last I checked, I also heard your mother cheated on the king. That makes you illegitimate."

Dario's smile faltered slightly, but he maintained composure. He stepped closer, placing a hand on Javier's shoulder, who tried to pull away but couldn't.

His grip was iron-strong.

"Get your hands off me!" Javier hissed.

"Calm down… I just wanted to tell you something important," Dario said, his smile tinged with anger.

"You're crossing boundaries. Do you know the implications?" Javier warned, wincing under Dario's strength.

"Stay away from her, or I'll pluck out your eyes and feed them to you," Dario suddenly threatened.

"Who?" Javier asked, wary.

Dario leaned close to his ears, his voice low, dominant and deadly serious. He whispered "Princess Thana"
