Chapter 2 – "The Floating Forest"
Mehek blinked as she looked around the magical forest. The trees glowed softly, their leaves shimmering in colors she had never seen. Tiny creatures, glowing like fireflies, darted between the branches. She felt both awe and fear—this world was beautiful, but completely unknown.
"Stay close," said Kael, stepping forward. His piercing blue eyes scanned the forest carefully. "There are creatures here that aren't friendly to strangers."
Mehek nodded, gripping the hem of her wet uniform. "I… I don't even know where to start," she admitted.
"First, observe," Kael replied. "The forest itself can guide you if you pay attention. And stay aware of your surroundings."
They walked deeper into the forest. Floating islands drifted overhead, and Mehek had to duck under low-hanging branches that glowed with soft golden light. Strange flowers opened and closed as if breathing, and a gentle hum filled the air.
Suddenly, a shadow moved in the distance. A small creature, no bigger than a rabbit, with scales that sparkled like jewels, tried to snatch a glowing fruit from the ground.
Mehek instinctively stepped forward. "Wait! That's mine!" she shouted. She picked up a stick and waved it gently to scare the creature away. Surprisingly, it froze, looked at her, and then scuttled back into the shadows.
Kael glanced at her. "Not bad. You have instinct. That will help."
Mehek's heart raced. This world was magical, yes, but also full of challenges she had never imagined. Every step she took made her more determined to survive, and perhaps even thrive, in this strange and beautiful land.
As they continued walking, Kael said quietly, "Soon, you'll learn why you were brought here. But for now… just survive, Mehek."
Mehek swallowed hard and nodded. She knew this was only the beginning of her adventure in Aeloria.
