Chapter 3 - Ch 3 The Unexpected Offer

The thought refused to leave her mind.

She stared blankly at the notebook infront of her, the words on the page blurring together. The classroom buzzed softly with quiet chatter, but she barely heard any of it.

Across the table, Isabella noticed her distraction immediately.

"You're thinking about him again, aren't you?" She asked.

She sighed.

"I just don't understand it."

"Understand what?"

"If he's really as dangerous as you say... why was he so normal when I met him?"

Isabella leaned back in her chair, crossing her arms.

"That's exactly what makes people like him scary."

Before she could respond, the classroom door opened.

Everyone's attention shifted instantly.

A man in a perfectly tailored black suit stepped inside. He looked completely out of place among the students.

The room fell silent.

"I'm looking for..." the man paused glancing at a small tablet in his hand before saying her name.

Her stomach dropped.

"That's me," she said cautiously.

The man approached her desk with calm, measured steps.

Up close his expression remained perfectly professional.

"Miss," he said politely, handing her a sealed envelope, "this was delivered for you."

"From who?" She asked.

But the man had already turned toward the door.

"My employer."

And then he left.

The classroom erupted into whispers.

Isabella immediately leaned closer.

"Open it."

Her fingers hesitated for a moment before breaking the seal.

Inside was a single sheet of paper.

Her eyes scanned the message once... then again.

Her heart skipped a beat.

"What does it say?" Isabella demanded.

She swallowed slowly.

"It's.... a job offer."

Isabella blinked.

"A job offer? From who?"

Her eyes dropped back to the bottom of the page where a signature was written in elegant black ink.

Two words.

Damian Vancov

Isabella's face went pale

"You're joking."

She slowly shook her head.

The message was short.

Direct.

And strangely.

I believe you have potential.

Meet me tonight if you're interested in the opportunity.

- Damian Vancov

She felt the same chill from the night of the rain crawl up her spine.

Because suddenly she realised something unsettling.

She had never told him her name.
