Chapter 4 - Ch.4 Opportunity

Another twelve days passed as Nexus could be seen inside the cave, spitting at the wall; his poisonous saliva flew out and pierced through it.

Poison Spit, a common-grade skill he created in these twelve days. After all, he can only sleep twelve hours a day, and eating doesn't even take an hour.

So he spent his days practicing with his poison element, wanting to create a mid-range attack. After all, it's best not to be a one-trick pony.

In these twelve days, the situation of the forest has more or less stabilized. Two alliances have risen at this point: the Heavenly Tiger Alliance and the Mutual Help Alliance.

According to the information he had gathered, the Earth Fanged Tiger has already reached the peak of the Beast stage. The leader of the Mutual Help Alliance, a thunder horned rhino, has also reached Late Beast rank.

This is all the information he bought from the White Feathered Eagle after exchanging the Steel-horned bull's horn.

He looked at the now rotting body of the bull and started to move out of the cave. Since his newly created skill has been recognized by the system, it's time to search for an opportunity.

In these twelve days, the passive aspect of his talent hasn't been activated even once, so he can only use the active feature.

His body crawled out of the cave as he bathed in the sun; in these twelve days, his strength has increased greatly. Due to his training and sleep, he can get 200 experience points daily.

His length has increased by one meter, and his height has increased by half a meter, making him a beast in his own right.

This is his current stats,

"Talent Activate."

He commanded as his talent flashed with a bright light, three pieces of information appeared before his eyes as he looked through them.

-=-=-=-=-=-

Minor Fortune: Travel a thousand meters to the north, and there you will find an adventurer party of H rank. Among the party members, there is a hidden noble who ran away from his house. He carries with him an F-grade elixir, the body-strengthening potion. Kill the party and consume the elixir to increase your strength. The party consists of a one-ring water mage, two Rooke Knights, a one-ring Healing priest, and the noble, an ordinary-ranked person on the verge of becoming a Rooke Knight.

Neutral: Stay in your current area, you will face no danger and will be able to pass your time in peace, though there will be no gains.

Major Misfortune: Travel five hundred meters to the south, where the Peak Rank Beast Steel Horned Bull has set up a trap for you due to you having hunted one of his pack members. You will fall for the trap and will suffer major injuries before being able to escape.

-=-=-=-=-=-

Looking at the piece of information, especially about the major misfortune, his heart couldn't help but tighten. He didn't expect the bull to be so smart to put up a trap; it seems he mustn't underestimate the intelligence of the creatures of this world.

As for the first one, he knows what an adventurer is, according to the information he got from eagle bro, they are a profession that deals in hunting beasts, exploring secret realms, and other miscellaneous work.

There is a Town a few tens of kilometers north of the winding forest, and most of the adventurers of the area live there.

The lowest adventurer rank is H, and the strongest adventurer in the town is an E-ranked party. According to the information, a Beast like him, who is in a Juvenile Stage, is considered a high H rank threat.

According to the standard, to deal with him, a party filled with H-ranked adventurers is needed to safely deal with them.

Looking at the information, he moved toward the northern direction due to the guilt of having to kill a human. Well, tell that to the tens of earthling beasts who died by human hands due to their kindness.

The only kindness he can give is not to attack ordinary people and adventurers who don't have something he desires.

A kilometer and a half south, a party of five was moving through the forest: two male knights, a female knight, a male priest, and a female mage.

The robust male knight and the female knight were moving in the front, the two mages were in the middle, and the last, sloppy-moving knight was in the back.

"Are you sure you saw a Gold Furred Rabbit in this direction?"

The male knight in the front asked as he turned his attention toward the knight in the back, hearing his question, a look of guilt flashed in his eyes before disappearing.

"Don't worry, trust me, I did spot a Gold Furred Rabbit. Even if it managed to run away, didn't I tell you I would pay for the wasted trip?"

The somewhat fat knight spoke as he took out a silver coin, the price of the fur of a gold-furred rabbit. Looking at the silver coin, the Knight suppressed his irritation.

After all, a silver coin was enough for him to get a new set of armor. The mage just kept a cold face as she looked at the surroundings with her mana sense.

The fat man, named Ray Bronze, looked at the mage's plump body with greedy desire but suppressed himself.

He is a member of a noble family, the Bronze Baron family. If he exposes his identity, the mage will start fawning at him; he is sure of that.

But he can't do that right now, after all, he escaped for his family. He was born as the youngest son, thus he couldn't inherit his father's title.

He doesn't like that he feels that he is the only one worthy among his brothers; he will make a name for himself as an adventurer and show his father his worth.

Although the information about the Gold Furred Rabbit is false, there is a beast in that direction. According to the information, he had bought a juvenile Poison Lizard that lives in that area.

As long as he lures his party to that area, they will be surprised by the poison lizard and fall into a disadvantage. Then he, with his noble, learned swordsmanship, will save the party and win the heart of the mage.

As for the chance of failing, how can a noble like him fail? He had even defeated his bodyguard at the Knight Rank.

The Mage noticed the greedy gaze but controlled herself for a moment; she also needed some money to prepare for her ascension to the second ring.

As the party continued to move forward, the first seemed to become silent, unknown to them, a pair of eyes was looking at them from the treetop far above the range of the Mage's mana sense.

Looking at the party of five, he felt the greatest danger from the mage, so he planned to target her first. His poisonous spit started to gather in his mouth. Suddenly, he felt a wave of discomfort from the priest who cast a stamina recovery magic.

His senses sent a warning; the priest had a means to neutralize his poison, so without wasting a second more, he fired his poison spit at the priest.

His saliva shot out like an arrow as it moved toward the priest. The mage noticed something, but before she could warn the party, the attack already pierced through the priest's neck.

"Enemy Attack."

She shouted as she erected a mana barrier. Another poisonous spit flew as it was blocked by the barrier.

"Water Bullet."

The mage chanted as a bullet-sized ball of water shot out towards the tree top, leaving a baseball-sized hole in the tree branch.

Nexus had already moved into the bushes as he blended with the surroundings. The party gathered as they formed a circle.

The mage checked the priest's body, finding that he was already dead. Looking at the condition of his body, she knew that they had encountered a Beast rank monster.

She ran her mana sense at full strength as she felt something lunging at the sturdy knight; the knight's sixth sense also reached as he raised his sword.

Clang!

Claw and Sword collided as a spark flew. Nexus opened his mouth as he fired a poisonous spit at blank range. The knight tried to dodge, but the attacker managed to leave a small cut on his cheek.

He felt his body weakening rapidly as he ran his battle aura with full force to stop the spread of the poison. The female knight sliced with he sword as Nexus swung his tail like a whip, deflecting the attack.

Through a shallow cut appeared on his tail, he suddenly sensed danger as he tried to back away.

"Water Blast."

The Mage shouted as a column of water, the thickness of a football, was fired, slamming on his body. His body flew as it collided with the tree. Saliva mixed with blood fell from his mouth as he disappeared into the bushes.

"Are you alright?"

The female knight asked as she shielded the male knight. The male knight drank a cleansing potion, but it didn't manage to dispel the poison.

"We should retreat."

He said as he could feel his battle aura being rapidly consumed, the mage and the female knight also nodded their head.

"Useless, let me show you how to slay a beast."

Ray boasted as he stepped forward outside the protection of the mana shield cast by the mage. Seeing his action, their eyes widened as the female knight tried to pull him back, but it was already too late.

A poison spit fired out as it pierced through his head; he didn't even get the ability to scream as his body fell with an arrogant look.

"Idiot."

The mage cursed under her breath as she signaled a retreat. Still making a defensive formation, they slowly backed down.

Nexus watched their retreating figure calmly; he didn't have any intention to chase them, as it would be a thankless job.

He knew that he had killed the noble among them, and as for how, well, this notification will tell you.

[Congratulations on killing a Human Ray Bronze, getting an ordinary rank treasure chest.]

After all, only the nobles have a surname in this world; moving his body, he scanned the noble's body. A pouch was found, inside which were three silver coins, an emblem engraved with an eagle, and a bottle of red liquid.

Putting the three things in the inventory, he checked the priest's body, and there were thirty bronze coins, three different colored potion, and a book.

Looting everything he could, he moved toward the direction of his cave. As for eating the human body, he can't bring himself to do that right now.
