Chapter 2
The sun had barely risen when Hallia Delan is already awake. Her small room inside Mayari Pack's manor was simple-just a narrow bed, a wooden dresser, and a small window overlooking the forest.
But to Hallia, it felt luxury.
After weeks of uncertainty and hunger, having a roof over her head was more than she could ask for. She tied her hair into a neat braid and slipped into the maid uniform waiting for her.
Today was her first day.
And she had no intention of flailing.
The manor kitchen was already alive with movement when she entered.
All eyes turned toward her.
" Look who it is." a woman said with a sneer.
Hallia pretended not to hear. Another she-wolf crossed her arms.
" I still don't understand why Alpha Orion allowed her here."
"She probably begged," someone mattered.
"Human always do."
A small voice suddenly spoke from behind Hallia.
"Leave her alone."
Hallia turned to see a young Omega boy carrying a basket of vegetables.
The other wolves rolled their eyes.
" Stay out of it, Leo." The boy lowered his head but stayed close to Hallia.
She gave him a small grateful smile.
Before anyone could say more___ the room suddenly went silent. An overwhelming presence filled the space.
Hallia felt it before she even turned.
Alpha Orion Rigel had entered the room.
The entire kitchen immediately straightened. Even the hostile wolves lowered their gazes.
The Alpha's whiskey eyes swept across the room before landing on Hallia. For a brief second, something unreadable flashed in his gaze.
Then it disappeared.
" Work," he said coldly. The command was simple. But no one dared to question it.
Hallia quickly picked up a cloth and began cleaning the counters. She could still feel the Alpha's gaze lingering on her.
And she had the strange feeling this job was going to be far more complicated than she expected.
