Chapter 12 - Chapter 12

[Beginning search for wish order... Search complete!]

[One beginner wish order obtained.]

[Order Description: The mage Cana wants to drink to her heart's content, but her wallet is empty.]

[Order Request: A large quantity of fine alcohol]

[Base Reward: Magic Card: Fool's Temperance, 150 Trade Points]

[Time Remaining: 59 minutes 59 seconds]

...

"The mage Cana? Could it be that woman?"

August had a vague impression, though he was not completely sure.

But none of that really mattered. What mattered was that he now had to find a large quantity of alcohol as quickly as possible.

This order clearly required him to focus on both [quality] and [quantity] if he wanted any chance at a good review.

Knowing that was one thing. Actually pulling it off was another.

Because right now, he could not even come up with a hundred Beli.

So that only left one option.

He would have to steal it.

Compared to being a short-lived good person, he would much rather be a scourge who lived a thousand years.

So he immediately began thinking about where he could find a lot of liquor.

The first places that came to mind were the local taverns. Those places would definitely have enough to meet the order.

The problem was that taverns had too many people around, which made them hard targets.

"This is a little troublesome..."

Just as August was thinking about how to complete the order, fierce gunfire and explosions suddenly erupted up ahead. Then a panicked crowd began fleeing in his direction.

"Pirates... pirates are fighting!"

"Run!"

August's eyes flickered. "That direction is the harbor?"

His instincts told him that something major had probably happened over there.

After hesitating for a moment, he decided to go take a look.

After all, the busiest taverns were mostly located near the harbor, where sailors passing through stopped to spend money.

Maybe, with all this chaos, he could take advantage of the confusion and pick up some easy gains.

So he avoided the flow of people in the center and circled around from the side.

...

Half an hour earlier, the Giant Bear Pirates and the Hundred Blades Pirates had suddenly attacked the Donquixote Family's smuggling ship docked at the harbor.

A lot of the crew had been caught completely off guard. They never expected anyone here would actually dare attack them. By the time they reacted, many were already dead or injured, and they were being forced back step by step.

"Hahahahaha! I told you already, that so-called Donquixote Family is nothing but a bunch of trash huddled together. Pathetic!"

Black Bear Miles charged into the crowd swinging two giant hammers, and no one around him could last even a single exchange, so his laughter rang especially loud and arrogant.

Although Silverlight Sword Lawrence did not believe this represented the Donquixote Family's true strength, things were going so smoothly that he could not exactly pour cold water on it right then, so he could only stay quietly on guard.

Because up until now, none of the Donquixote Family's real officers had shown up. The ones dying were all low-level cannon fodder.

"These bastards came straight for us. Has Mr. Pink still not returned?"

"The signal's already been sent out. Hold on a little longer. Mr. Pink will be back soon!"

"They actually dared attack a Donquixote Family ship? Those bastards are dead meat!"

"Bring out the rest of the weapons and fight them!"

"But... some of those haven't been delivered yet..."

"At a time like this, you're still thinking about business? Don't worry. Once Mr. Pink hears about it, he definitely won't blame us."

Although the Giant Bear Pirates and the Hundred Blades Pirates had the advantage in numbers and had initially taken the upper hand, the Donquixote Family's crew was much better equipped.

Guns and cannons fired as if they cost nothing, and for a time, they actually managed to halt the enemy's momentum.

Seeing that, Black Bear Miles immediately let out a deafening roar. "Stay behind me!"

In the next instant, he transformed into a gigantic black bear. Relying on his huge size, thick hide, and astonishing defense, he charged forward like a battering ram.

The moment they saw how ferocious their captain was, his men's morale immediately soared, and they rushed in behind him.

Faced with Black Bear Miles's wild assault, the Donquixote Family crew's hastily stabilized defense was instantly smashed to pieces.

Just when it looked like total defeat was about to set in, a figure suddenly leaped up from the ground and planted himself squarely in front of Black Bear Miles.

The man wore a black suit and a pair of sunglasses. A single slightly curled lock of hair hung carelessly over the right side of his forehead. He was handsome, carried himself with effortless cool, and had a lit cigarette in his mouth. Even with a giant bear charging straight at him, his expression did not change in the slightest.

"Thank goodness, Mr. Pink is back!"

"Be careful, Mr. Pink!"

As several crewmen shouted, the man suddenly lunged forward and, by sheer physical strength alone, forcibly stopped Black Bear Miles in his tracks.

"That's impossible?!"

"Captain Miles's black bear charge in beast form can even smash down city walls. How did that man stop it head-on?!"

That sight dealt an enormous shock to the pirates standing behind Miles.

Even Miles himself showed disbelief in his eyes.

He simply could not understand how this "little man" in front of him could unleash such terrifying strength.

"You attacked the family's ship while I was away resting. That kind of cowardly behavior is disgraceful..."

"Who the hell cares whether it's cowardly or not? Bastard, die!"

Miles, embarrassed into fury, suddenly raised both of his massive paws high and then slammed them down.

He intended to crush the bastard in front of him into meat paste in a single blow.

Yet Mr. Pink still wore the same cold, unmoved expression.

Boom!

Miles's two paws slammed heavily into the ground, and the sheer force sent spiderweb cracks racing outward through the earth.

But Mr. Pink had already disappeared.

"Where'd he go?"

"I'm behind you."

At some point, Mr. Pink was already standing behind Miles.

Then he wrapped his arms around the enormous body from behind.

German Suplex!

Boom!

With an explosive crash, Miles's massive body was actually lifted off the ground and slammed down hard.

Because the back of his head struck first, the terrible impact blacked out his vision for a moment, nearly knocking him unconscious on the spot.

The defensive power he had always been proud of seemed not to help much at all.

"Silverfall Strike!"

At that moment, Silverlight Sword Lawrence finally could not hold himself back any longer.

He had no intention of letting Miles, such an excellent meat shield, bow out of the fight right away.

Since they had already chosen to move against the Donquixote Family, there was no turning back.

A gorgeous flash of sword light fell from the air like a silver bolt of lightning, aiming precisely for the enemy's position.

Lawrence's timing was impeccable.

It was exactly the moment when the opponent had just finished attacking and should have had no room left to dodge.

"I've got him!"

Lawrence's blade was just about to pierce straight through the man's skull...

But in the next instant, Mr. Pink sank directly into the ground right before his eyes and vanished without a trace.
