Yami Sukehiro lay in the hideout, lazily smoking as he blew out a ring of smoke and glanced at Cedric.
"Brat, why didn't you participate in the Royal Knights selection?"
"Me?" Cedric pointed at himself with a faint smirk. "I have no interest in the Royal Knights."
"In that case, spar with me. Let me see your progress. Come with me."
Yami brought Cedric to the forest outside the hideout and drew his katana.
"Attack me."
Cedric drew his sword and simultaneously infused it with three different types of mana.

Yami narrowed his eyes and coated his blade in darkness.

The two attacks collided, sending shockwaves through the forest.

Yami's eyes sharpened.

Just as he moved to counter, two hands burst out of the ground and grabbed his ankles.

Yami was dragged into the ground, leaving only his head exposed as he stared at the three identical Cedrics in front of him.
"You brat, what kind of magic is this?"
All three had identical Ki.
Yami's expression turned serious.
Isn't his grimoire supposed to be Tree Magic? Then what is this Earth Magic? And that slash earlier had traces of Wind and Water as well.
Cedric stood there, clearly enjoying himself.
Finally beating someone who always tries to beat you up felt incredible.
"It's a secret."
Ever since Sally discovered the three different magic attributes inside his body, Cedric had been experimenting.
Water Magic worked almost instantly, even allowing him to use Water Dragon techniques.
Fire Magic, however, completely failed no matter how much he tried.
After repeated testing, he confirmed that Wind, Water, and Earth attributes could all be integrated into his grimoire alongside his Tree Magic.
"A secret, huh..."
Yami's mana surged violently as he broke free from the ground.
"Then I'll beat it out of you."
Dark Magic: Dark Cloaked Dimension Slash
Cedric raised his hand, forming a swirling sphere.
"Crumbling Rasengan."
The black sphere collided head-on with Yami's attack.
"You really don't hold back, Captain. Fine, then don't blame me."
Tree Magic: Advent of the World of Flowering Trees
A wave of pollen spread through the area.
"What is this..."
Yami inhaled slightly and felt his body grow heavy.
Dark Magic: Dark Cloaked Black Hole
The pollen was instantly absorbed.
Cedric smiled faintly.
"Too late."
His crimson eyes spun.
Yami's body froze, and he lost consciousness instantly.
"Time to perform some brain surgery, Captain."
Yami slowly opened his eyes and stared at the familiar ceiling.
"What the hell... why does my whole body hurt?"
"Captain, you're awake. Time for your medicine."
"Medicine?"
Yami sat up, frowning.
"I think I remember... I fell from upstairs."
That didn't make sense.
Still, he shrugged it off and grabbed the medicine Cedric handed him, swallowing it in one go.
"That's bitter as hell! You trying to poison me, you bastard?"
Cedric turned and walked out with a faint smile.
The surgery was a success.
Now all that was left was to wait.
Mud Restraint Magic: Shining Swamp
"Got you. Once you're trapped in here, that Earth Magic of yours is useless," said a member of the Green Praying Mantises as he appeared behind Sol Marron.
"You don't have those controllable mud constructs now, do you? Strength isn't everything. Flexibility matters too."
A fragrant breeze passed.
A man appeared beside Sol.
"Let's move forward beautifully together."
Sol frowned.
This guy even wears perfume.
Earth Magic: Splitting Earth Mother Goddess
Mud constructs rose and surrounded the enemy.
"Well done. I'll go protect our magic crystal now, beautiful lady."
"Protect it? It's already ours."
Water Creation Magic: Ancient Fish Waterfall Climb
A massive water construct surged forward toward the crystal.
"Your magic lacks beauty. Now, witness mine."
Cherry Blossom Magic: Magic Cherry Blossom, Fierce Flower Blizzard
Petals filled the battlefield, obscuring vision.
Illusions formed, showing multiple copies of the caster moving among the blossoms.
"That's incredible magic."
"This level of mana... only royalty could have this much."
Through the petals, a path formed.
At the end of it was the enemy's magic crystal.
Sol and Magna moved forward instinctively.
Under the combined assault of Earth and Fire Magic, the crystal shattered.

Magna and Sol struck exaggerated poses.
"Being unable to recognize beauty."

"Silence, you man with no sense of beauty. In the next match, I will defeat you with elegance, you broken container."
"Broken things last the longest. I've been using the bowl Sister gave me for years."
"Asta, that's not what he meant," Yuno muttered awkwardly.
"You truly lack intelligence."
Asta froze on the spot.
"The third match begins. Group E versus Group F."
"As expected, victory will belong to my flames," said Leopold Vermillion as fire gathered in his hands.
"I think my Glass Magic should take the lead," said Hamon Caseus with a smile.
Behind them, Finral Roulacase raised his hand nervously.
"Um... could you two listen to me for this match?"
Both of them turned to look at him, carefully sizing him up.
