Chapter 12 - TAHM Pilot VI

SF Chapter 12: TAHM Pilot VI

That same night at the Malibu house, Lauren was biting the pillow, lying completely flat, with only her hips slightly raised, while Daniel was working hard from above.

"Mmmhm," she moaned as she reached her orgasm.

"Okay, that was good!" Daniel remarked breathlessly, letting his whole body fall on top of hers.

"Well, Lauren, you were..." he started to say after catching his breath, when he realized she had already fallen asleep.

"Wow, that's a little inconsiderate," he muttered, not thinking much of it. He kissed her cheek, then gave her a playful slap on her butt.

Daniel got out of bed to grab a drink from the mini-fridge in his room, but noticed there was no water left - only a few alcoholic drinks.

He pulled on his underwear, wrapped himself in a robe, and headed to the kitchen to get something refreshing.

When he reached the living room, he saw Charlie playing the piano.

"Hey, Charlie, can't sleep?" Daniel asked, since it was already past 2 a.m.

Charlie's fingers lingered on the piano keys, "Yeah..."

Daniel nodded. "Let me get something to drink, and then I can keep you company," he said, and a moment later returned with a bottle of water.

Before they could start talking, someone else appeared.

"Uncle Charlie? Uncle Dan?" Jake showed up in his pajamas.

"Can't sleep either?" Daniel asked his nephew.

"No," Jake replied sadly. "My dad says we're moving to Grandma's tomorrow."

"Yeah, that would keep me up," Charlie commented, trying to lighten the mood. "If it makes you feel any better, you won $80 on that last hand."

"$85," Jake corrected.

"$80. The house gets a cut." Charlie replied, teaching him the rules.

"I wish my dad was as cool as you two," Jake stared at his two uncles.

Charlie spoke softly, "Don't sell your dad short. He loves you more than anything in the world. You know that, don't you?"

"I guess," Jake muttered, lowering his head.

"Don't worry," Daniel ran a hand through his hair. "We're gonna visit you."

"I don't want to go to Grandma's. I'd rather stay here," Jake hugged both uncles.

Charlie tried to reason, "Yeah, well, your dad knows what's best for you."

Jake nodded. "Okay. Good night, Uncle Charlie. Uncle Dan. I love you."

"Good night, Jake," they both answered.

They watched him disappear down the hallway.

Charlie finally broke the silence. "So… what should we do?"

Daniel thought for a moment. "I don't know. At the end of the day, this is your house. I'm just a VIP guest. You should be the one to decide."

"Since when did you become so considerate?" Charlie mocked, turning back to the piano.

His brother smirked. "I'm not really. I'm just passing the responsibility to you," he joked.

"Speaking of inconsideration," Daniel pointed toward his bedroom direction, "I gave her the night of her life, and she fell asleep on me. Not.even.a.good.night!"

"Get out of here!" Charlie firmly pointed toward the hallway, almost like he was grounding him.

They both ended up laughing, and Daniel decided to head back to his bedroom, leaving his brother alone to organize his thoughts in peace.

"Good night, brother," he said, giving Charlie a light punch on the arm.

A few days later, at the Malibu house, upstairs in the bedroom, Charlie was in bed with Laura. She was wearing sexy lingerie, while he was still dressed.

He commented, as the two of them knelt on the bed, "You've got to love a kid like that. I even played him Stairway to Heaven, and he still liked the Maple Loops song better."

"Charlie, I haven't seen you in almost a week. You finally got the house back to yourself," Laura said as she unbuttoned her blouse. "And I'll be traveling to Europe tomorrow."

"Now, do you want to talk about your nephew, or do you want to have sex?" she added, tossing his shirt aside.

"Sex. Definitely sex," he pulled Laura down with him.

But then he added, after they kissed, "Let me ask you something."

"Yeah?"

"Do you ever think about having kids?"

"Whoa, we've got a good thing going," she scoffed, throwing her arms up in frustration. "Can't we just leave it at that?"

"What are you doing?" he asked, watching her get up and start putting her pants back on. "I thought we were gonna have sex."

"How am I supposed to have sex while your biological clock is going off?" she replied, annoyed.

Then his answering machine clicked on. "Hey, it's Charlie. Do your thing when you hear the beep."

Rose's voice came through the phone. "Hi, Monkey Man. I was just thinking about you and wondering why we hurt each other so much."

Charlie picked up the phone. "Rose, it's me, Monkey Man."

"Charlie?" Rose's surprised voice was heard on the other end of the line.

"Yeah, listen, let me ask you a question. Is there something inherently wrong with asking a woman you're involved with if she wants kids?"

"Charlie, we've got a good thing going. Why do you want to mess it up?" she replied, hanging up immediately.

Daniel headed to the kitchen, and when he saw his brother sitting on one of the chairs on the outside deck, he walked over.

"Hey, First Bro," he said, handing him one of the beers bottles he was holding.

"Thanks," Charlie clinked bottles with him, though he was clearly missing his usual swagger.

After Daniel sat down beside him, Charlie turned to him and inquired, "Did you ever bring up kids during sex?"

His brother's eyes widened. "You too??!" he shouted in surprise. "I knew we were super bros!" he joked, patting Charlie's arm.

"Wait, wait - you did it today?" Charlie was also in disbelief.

Daniel was about to answer, but seeing his brother's expression, it suddenly clicked. "Ohhhh, ohhhh, you didn't!!! Did you?!" he burst out laughing. "You did it before sex, didn't you?"

"Is it because of Jake?" Daniel guessed between laughs.

Charlie got really annoyed, stared ahead, and took a sip of his beer. "Maybe..."

"Oh, how the mighty fall!" his younger brother mocked again. "I did it after, just to scare the chick, you know?"

"I said I dreamed about having a whole volleyball team of kids. She said, 'Let's just be friends,' and she's leaving for Europe tomorrow. Everybody wins, no one gets hurt," Daniel explained his side of the story.

"Looks like The Harpers are going to be living together again," he added, amused.

"I'm seriously thinking about kicking one of them out - one especially smug bastard," Charlie snorted.

"Ha-ha," Daniel laughed mockingly, not believing it for a second. "You'd turn into a grumpy man, spending the weekdays alone with a neurotic raccoon."

-------‐-----------‐-----------‐-----------‐-----------‐-----------‐---

The next day, Charlie and Daniel went to their mother's house and picked up two more Harpers.

Later, on the plane to Europe, Lauren turned to her sister.

"Lau..." she paused, glancing around before whispering, "did a guy ever ask you about kids during... you know?"

Laura's eyes widened. "Dani did it too?? What is wrong with these brothers?!!" she said, annoyed.

"Yeah..." Lauren muttered. "He's really cute. Rich... and he was wow, wow, wooow."

"You don't need to say it," Laura snorted. "I saw how you came back home."

"But... five would be too much!"

"Five?" Laura asked suspiciously.

"Yep."

"When did he ask?"

"After... you know," Lauren said suggestively again.

Laura groaned. "This is so not fair! So not fair!"
