Chapter 1 - 1. Zero

Luke Moore was an average 23 year old young man. He wasn't handsome, smart, talented or charming.

He was just average, the boring average. This caused him a great deal of trouble when making friends.

Which in turn led him to become antisocial and reserved. And his personal life, yeah it was a disaster.

Due to a boring lifestyle, Luke failed to acquire a girlfriend of his own, though his anxiety and shyness added to that as well.

He tried and tried but every attempt always ended in some way....Rejection!

"Yuck, why would I ever date a pathetic thing like you." His elementary crush told him.

"Seriously, do I seem so desperate that you thought you had a chance with me!!."

His high school crush told him as she laughed with her group.

But this time, Luke felt confident that his advances would work in his favour.

9th September...

It was the night of the blood moon dance at his local college. Luke had planned this out for months.

Today was the day he would finally get a girlfriend, and his target for the event... his childhood best friend Eve.

"Okay Luke, you've got this, she already agreed to go with you, so you just gotta propose to her....easy, yeah easy..."

He muttered to himself as he adjusted his suit and tie in the mirror. He was nervous but he had the confidence.

[Ding Dong!!]

His front doorbell rang, Luke immediately flinched at the sound. "Coming." He shouted from his room.

He made some final adjustments to his hair and rushed towards the door.

His hand hovered over the handle as he took deep, then shallow breaths. He pushed the handle down and opened the door.

"Hey, I'm glad you could make...." he stated as words slowly left him.

Standing in front of him was Rena Ashford, his childhood friend dressed in a lavish open thigh red dress that barely reached her ankles.

But she wasn't alone, besides she was a tall athletic individual in a blue suit.

"Hey Luke, sorry to tell you this but...im going with Alex instead." She told him before leaving.

Luke stood there in shock and disturbance. Not even as an adult could he get his best friend to like him.

That night Luke spent the whole night like a single depressed man would. Drinking the pain and sadness away at a local bar.

He was leaning against the counter as he stared down at the dirty floor.

His hand gripping a bottle of jack daniels tightly around his fingers. He sighed deeply as he stared into the bartender's eyes.

"S-sir have you e-ever fallen in love before?" He asked but didn't give the bartender the chance to respond.

"C-cause ive..." he spits on the floor, "ive been a lover boy my entire life you see and not once has a lady ever told me I love you...."

He says as he leans forward, his other arm trying to balance his weight. "You get what I mean right.....right?"

He asks again, his words slurring with every exhale.

The bartender pays his drunk demeanor with little to no attention. "Kid, I think you need to leave."

He uttered, it wasn't a request but a command, plain and simple.

Luke simply laughed for a while, he thought the old man was joking.

"Oh come on old time...j-just let me have some fun for a while you know...." he muttered as he reached for the glass cup.

But the bartender held his hand tightly, his grip tight around Luke's wrist. "Sorry kid, but you're done for tonight." He told Luke.

Luke smirked and stared at the man with a drunk expression and false confidence.

"Listen you fat ass, i pay for the drinks and you pour them, as easy as that heck even someone like you could understand."

Luke muttered with a little too much confidence. The bartender simply stared and grabbed him by the collar.

He threw Luke out through the back door. "Now I better not see you here ever again kid." The bartender told him as he returned to the bar.

Luke had landed hard against the wall, it caused his nose to shatter as he desperately tried to stand up.

He slipped on some trash juice and landed on a broken bottle. The pieces cut through his hand.

"Mother.....Jesus fuck!" He shouted as he pulled the bottle out of his hand.

He stared at his reflection in the dirty water, spitting blood at it. "Pathetic. You can't even drink alcohol right."

He started as he started walking out the alley.

When he made it to the streets, they were dead silent, not a single soul in sight. Luke decided it would be a good idea to head home for the night.

His senses were so blurred that he didn't notice the headlights speeding towards him.

The moment his feet touched the tarred road did his entire world completely slow down. Bright lights burned it to his retina as if he owned it money.

He froze like a deer caught, he felt his heart beat speed up until it hurt.

"Whats going on?"

"Why am I so scared?."

Then he saw them, the memories of his whole life flashed before him in an instant.

"No.....this cant be... im i....about to die?" He asked himself as the first tingles of pain spread through his body.

Then absolutely nothing as a truck ran him over without a care in the world.

Luke couldn't feel anything from the neck up, his eyes lazily flickered around trying to make sense of his situation.

He heard the faint sounds of people screaming and shouting . "What happened??" He asked himself as he felt his mind slipping away.

Then his eyes landed on what he believed was his torso, laying mangled on the street.

"Oh that's right.....i just died." He uttered as the whole world turned black.
