The entrance to the shrine was cleanly cut in two.
A tall man with pale skin and a muscular build, long spiky black hair with red tips kept in a nice ponytail ran down his back.
He had three sets of eyes on his face, with the middle pair of eyes containing the words "Upper One."
He had been sent here by Lord Muzan.
His only instructions given to him.
"Destroy the shrine and kill everyone there."
Walking through the outside of the shrine, everything seemed quiet.
He entered what seemed to be a giant courtyard.
Two individuals sat down on the dirt across the yard from him.
Each holding a sword on top of their laps.
No words were needed between them.
They all knew why he was here.
Blades escaped their scabbards.
The mans blade was slightly broader than a normal blade, more likely designed for powerful cuts.
A deep burnished gold with faint orange undertones, like sunlight reflecting off steel at sunset.
Beside him, the woman's blade was slightly slimmer than a normal blade, designed for speed and fluid attacks.
Her blade was a cool silver-blue, like the moonlight reflecting on water.
His own blade, blood-red, with a veiny appearance, and numerous eyes cover the blade and the tsuka.
For a moment, they just stared at each other.
Unmoving.
The next instant, they became invisible to the untrained eye.
Sparks slightly flashed between the courtyard, they were moving at incredible speeds.
Silver-blue and Gold streaks met with blood-red streaks.
Akihiro's father lunged in first, his golden nichirin blade rose high above his shoulders before crashing down towards the demons head.
Sparks exploded as Kokushibo effortlessly guarded against the strike.
The ground beneath his feet cracked from the strength of the strike.
The moment their blades met, Akihiro's mother slipped past his guard.
Her silver-blue blade swung in an upward curve, aiming directly for his ribs.
Kokushibo had to shift his stance and move out of the way.
"Impressive," Kokushibo muttered
Akihiro's parents stood side by side, before they moved as one.
Akihiro's father stepped forward first, confronting Kokushibo directly.
Akihiro's mother stayed a bit behind him, waiting for the perfect moment to strike.
The golden Nichirin blade screamed through the air as Akihiro's father stepped forward.
At the same time, Kokushibo was ready to intercept the strike, Akihiro's mother suddenly appeared behind him.
He was caught in between both of them.
Akihiro's father foot planted on the ground, and cracks erupted from the ground where he stepped.
He controlled his breathing.
Before lunging forward, the tip of his blade extended straight towards Kakushibo's throat.
At the same time, Akihiro's mother, just like how the moon orbits around the earth, she moved around Kakushibo.
It was like a beautiful dance, with one hand on her blade, she moved, the blade aligned directly with his neck.
The two blades closed towards Kokushibo's neck at the same moment.
For a moment, time seemed to still.
Then, with a sudden movement faster than either of them could track.
Kokushibo vanished from where he stood.
Blood sprayed across the courtyard.
Standing a bit further away, with his back turned to them.
Kokushibo stood, swinging his blade violently to the side to clean the blood off his blade.
A sigh escaped his lips.
"Enough"
Turning around and looking at the two's shocked expressions.
"Your coordination is...admirable," he said. "But, I'm ending this."
Kokushibo slowly raised his sword.
"Moon Breathing,Third Form: Loathsome Moon, Chains."
His sword moved in an instant, again, then again.
The courtyard filled with spiraling crescent blades, twisting together like chains of moonlight.
Quickly reaching its targets.
Blood splattered all across the courtyard.
Akihiro's parents quickly fell, as limbs were cleaved off.
Ending both of their lives in an instant.
The courtyard filled with silence.
Dust drifted through the air where the battle had once taken place.
Morning quickly came after that.
Akihiro, who heard all the noise from his hiding spot, hadn't moved all night just as his parent told him to.
Eventually, the noise of battle stopped.
And sunlight shone through the window, lighting up the once dark room.
Akihiro made the decision to step out and investigate what happened.
Hopefully, whatever occurred, he hoped his parents were alright.
Akihiro stepped into the courtyard.
The place where he and his parents trained everyday was now completely destroyed.
Blood was splattered across the whole courtyard.
Akihiro pushed forward, towards the place with the most amount of blood on the dirt.
There was nothing there.
His eyes widened as he spotted them.
Not his parents... but their blades.
His father's golden and mother's silver-blue Nichirin blades lay in the dirt.
Akihiro knew it in that moment.
Even though he didn't want to admit it, in his heart he knew.
They were gone.
