Watching the four prompts flash through his vision, Dante Voss confirmed the bad news.

Thanks to his rising strength, an Administrator once worth 15 slaughter points now yielded only 5.

Ordinary folk who used to give 10 points now gave just 1.

Suppressing his feelings, Dante Voss climbed up from the dungeon.

Night had fallen; only a handful of Administrators on guard loitered in the vast arena.

They yawned, chatting sporadically about the day's events.

After all, this was the Land of the Gods—no one ever dared make trouble here.

Their watch was little more than a ceremonial show.

From the shadows Dante Voss moved soundlessly, slipping behind them.

"Swoosh! Swoosh!"

Two figures crumpled to the ground.

Dante Voss continued forward; he wanted a sword—using his hands alone was messy.

En route to the armoury he quietly dispatched four more Administrators.

He chose a fine blade, then crept toward the Administrators' quarters.

He intended to kill every Administrator here.

First, to delay news of his escape.

Second, for revenge—Vic had to die.

Third, of course, for slaughter points.

Passing the key room he sensed a crowd inside—likely their gathering spot.

Dante Voss pushed his Spirit perception to the limit; he couldn't afford discovery.

Being found here meant death.

At the key-room door he saw dormitories labeled "Rest Room"; the innermost read "Supervisor Office".

He sensed many within and smiled faintly, murmuring,

"Time for revenge."

Gently pushing the nearest door, he stepped inside.

Inside, Administrators sat round a card table—here in the Holy Land they had to amuse themselves.

No one noticed Dante Voss; the table buzzed with laughter and shouts.

Without hesitation Dante Voss raised his sword, activating Hear the Breath of All Things, and swept the blade across the group.

Four or five men were cleaved in half; blood sprayed in all directions, stunning the survivors.

He stepped forward and slashed again before they could react.

Several more Administrators fell dead.

The rest tried to resist but were cut down just as swiftly.

...Gently opening another door, Dante Voss entered the next rest room.

Moments later he had visited every dorm; his blood-soaked clothes clung wetly, the crimson even brighter.

Smiling faintly, he walked toward the Supervisor Office... Inside that office,

Vic was venting his fury; he'd been poised for promotion, but Dante Voss's escape forced him to remain supervisor.

He'd nearly been executed by the Celestial Dragons; the wild swing between hope and despair almost shattered him.

"Damn it! Why won't you just die!" Vic hurled items across the room in rage.

If only Dante Voss had died today—

he'd have risen in rank and Saint Mike would be pleased.

Now he had nothing; other Celestial Dragons would resent him, and execution might still await.

The thought nearly broke him.

Crack!

Suddenly the door swung open.

Furious, Vic bellowed,

"Don't you know how to knock? What use are you wastes? All of you want me dead? I—"

Mid-tirade he saw the figure at the door; his curses froze, limbs stiffening.

"I-it's… it's you!"

Dante Voss gave a gentle smile. Looking at Vic, he greeted casually,

"Good evening, Supervisor Vic."

With that he quietly shut the door.

Vic, drenched in cold sweat, smelled death itself as the latch clicked.

Watching Dante Voss approach, Vic darted for the Den Den Mushi on the desk.

"Shnk!"

A flash of steel; his arm and the desk split in two.

"Arghh!"

Clutching the stump, Vic rolled across the floor in agony.

Dante Voss watched with interest. "These days you've taken such good care of me; let me return the favour."

Through gritted teeth Vic begged, "Please spare me! I'll never dare again!"

Dante Voss answered with silence and another slash, severing Vic's remaining arm.

"Aaargh!"

Vic screamed, pain nearly knocking him unconscious.

But it wasn't over—Dante Voss's next strike took both legs at the thighs.

The agony sent Vic's eyes rolling back as he fainted.

Dante Voss stepped closer, admiring the limbless, bleeding form with satisfaction.

Vic wouldn't last long in this state.

Yet Dante Voss had no intention of letting him die peacefully.

He drove his sword into the one remaining appendage.

"Aaaargh!"

A gut-wrenching shriek tore Vic back to consciousness.

Moments later the cry fell silent; Vic succumbed to blood loss and pain.

With the enemy who had twice nearly killed him finally dead, Dante Voss strolled out of the room and headed outside.

The Divine Trial Ground was now deserted; only Dante Voss in crimson remained, a vengeful wraith stepping out of hell itself.
