Chapter 1 - Unnamed

The boy's name was Nirab. He was quiet, calm, and didn't talk much. His house was an old but warm place filled with memories. Interestingly, that house was also Meherin's grandmother's house.

Since childhood, Meherin used to visit her grandmother very often. Back then, Nirab and Meherin would play together in the yard, sometimes sit under the mango tree and talk, and sometimes go out for ice cream in the evening.

At that time, Nirab didn't really understand it, but deep inside his heart, a special feeling for Meherin was slowly growing.

Whenever Meherin came, his whole day felt brighter.

As time passed, they both started growing up. They didn't play like before anymore, but they still talked from time to time.

Meherin had a cousin named Mishti.

Mishti's family had their own house right beside Nirab's area. Because of that, Mishti used to stay both at her own house and often visit her grandmother's house as well.

At that time, Mishti was just a little girl in third grade. She was cheerful, innocent, and always smiling.

But Nirab's eyes were only focused on Meherin.

One afternoon, something unexpected happened.

Meherin said to Nirab,

"I want to tell you something."

Nirab looked at her with surprise.

Meherin felt shy and said softly,

"Do you know… I've liked you for a long time."

Nirab felt as if time suddenly stopped.

Then Meherin said,

"Will you be in a relationship with me?"

That moment became the happiest moment of Nirab's life.

The girl he had silently loved since childhood was confessing her feelings to him.

And that was the beginning of their story.

For one whole year, they were together.

Late-night conversations, small arguments, making up again… everything was there.

Nirab believed in his heart,

"Maybe one day I will marry this girl."

But slowly, everything began to change.

Meherin started becoming distant.

The phone calls became fewer.

Messages were replied to very late.

Nirab could feel that something was wrong.

One day he found out that Meherin was spending time with another boy.

Then one day she said to him,

"Nirab… it's better if we end this here."

Those few words shattered Nirab's heart.

That night he couldn't sleep at all.

It felt like the most important person in his life had suddenly disappeared.

During that painful time, sometimes Nirab remembered little Mishti.

The small girl who used to smile and ask him,

"Nirab bhaiya, why are you always so quiet?"

But Mishti was very young then, so Nirab never allowed himself to think about those feelings seriously.

Time moved on.

Five years passed.

Nirab was not the same person anymore.

He had become quieter and more serious about life.

Then one night he received a message on his phone.

"Do you still remember me?"

His hands trembled when he saw the name.

Meherin.

After five long years, she had come back.

At first Nirab didn't reply.

But old love doesn't fade so easily.

Eventually they started talking again.

Old memories, old laughter… everything slowly returned.

Nirab once again felt his heart melting.

But exactly two months later, he heard something that broke him again.

Meherin had married someone else.

This time Nirab sat silently for a long time.

No tears came.

He only thought to himself,

"Some people come into our lives only to teach us pain."

After some time, one evening, he met Mishti on the road.

Mishti was no longer a little girl.

She had grown up and was now in college.

But her smile was still the same—pure and warm.

Mishti laughed and said,

"Nirab bhaiya, where have you been all this time?"

Slowly, they started talking again.

Days passed, and their friendship grew deeper.

One evening Nirab gathered the courage to say,

"Mishti, can I tell you something?"

Mishti smiled and replied,

"Of course."

Nirab spoke slowly,

"I started liking you many years ago… but back then you were very young, so I never said anything."

"Today I'm saying it because I truly respect you… and I love you."

Mishti stayed silent for a moment and looked at him.

Then she smiled softly and said,

"Do you know something? Since childhood, I always felt that you were different."

"Maybe that's why I started liking you too."

And that day, a new story began.

Their relationship was calm and slowly growing.

There was no betrayal.

Only trust.

For four years, they stayed together through everything.

Eventually, both of their families agreed.

On their wedding night, Nirab sat quietly.

Mishti asked him,

"What are you thinking about?"

Nirab smiled and replied,

"I'm thinking that after all these years, I finally understood something."

"True love never really stays far away."

"It just waits for the right time."

Mishti was sitting beside him.

And Nirab felt that this time, his story wasn't ending.

It was finally beginning again.

The End. 🌙
