Chapter 2 - Chapter 2:The Girl Behind the Counter

The small bell above the café door chimed softly as another customer stepped inside.

Evening sunlight streamed through the large glass windows, casting a golden glow across the cozy café.

Behind the counter stood Aria Bennett, tying her long dark hair into a loose ponytail as she prepared another order.

The café was busy as usual. Cups clinked against saucers, the espresso machine hissed, and the rich scent of roasted coffee beans filled the air.

Aria moved quickly but gracefully, handing drinks to customers while keeping a calm smile on her face.

"Two lattes and one caramel macchiato," she called out.

Despite the rush, she never looked irritated.

Working here wasn't easy. She balanced long university classes during the day and part-time shifts at night. Many people would complain about such a tiring schedule.

But Aria never did.

To her, hard work was simply a part of life.

A young boy suddenly ran toward the counter and accidentally knocked over a cup. Coffee spilled across the floor.

The boy froze in fear.

"I'm so sorry," he said quietly.

Aria immediately grabbed a cloth and knelt down.

"It's okay," she said gently. "Accidents happen."

The boy looked surprised.

Most workers would have been angry.

But Aria only smiled.

One of the regular customers watched the scene and chuckled.

"You're too kind, Aria," he said.

"Maybe," she replied softly. "But kindness doesn't cost anything."

Her words were simple, yet sincere.

People admired her not just for her beauty but for the warmth she carried wherever she went.

Her long dark hair framed a delicate face, and her bright eyes held a quiet determination that many overlooked.

She looked gentle.

But inside, she was stronger than most people realized.

Life had taught her to be independent, to rely only on herself.

And she preferred it that way.

What she didn't know was that her peaceful world was about to collide with something far darker.

Somewhere in the city, a powerful man ruled the underworld with fear and absolute control.

A man whose name alone made enemies tremble—

Rafael Romano

Their worlds were completely different.

But fate had already begun weaving their paths together.

And very soon…

the kind girl behind the café counter would unknowingly going to crossing path with the Mafia King.
