The day of the tournament arrived. The arena was filled with thousands of people. High above, the Gods sat on floating thrones, looking down like bored masters.
The Iron-Blood Clan walked in with pride, Reid leading them.
"Our clan will win today," Kael's father, General Marcus, declared. "There is no weakness left in our blood."
Then, a lone figure walked into the arena. He wore simple black leather armor. On his back was a jagged, broken blade. He didn't have a mana aura. He looked like a commoner.
The announcer laughed. "And who is this? A servant who got lost?"
Kael took off his hood. The entire Iron-Blood section went silent. General Marcus stood up, his face turning pale.
"Kael?" he whispered in horror. "But... you were dead."
Kael looked up at his father, then at the Gods on their thrones. He unsheathed his broken blade, and for the first time, he let his silver aura explode.
