The sky over the small town turned dark as the rain began to fall. Emma stood alone at the old railway station, her heart beating fast. She had received a message only an hour ago: "Meet me here before the last train leaves."
It was from Daniel.
Three years ago, Daniel had left the town without saying goodbye. Emma had waited for him every day, wondering why he disappeared from her life. She felt hurt, confused, and angry—but deep in her heart, she still loved him.
Thunder rolled across the sky as the last train's whistle echoed in the distance. Just when Emma thought he wouldn't come, she saw a familiar figure running through the rain.
"Emma!" Daniel called, breathless.
She looked at him with teary eyes. "Why did you leave me without a word?"
Daniel stood silent for a moment, rain dripping from his hair. "Because I was afraid," he finally said. "Afraid that I would fail in life and drag you down with me. I thought leaving was the only way to protect you."
Emma shook her head. "You didn't protect me. You broke my heart."
Daniel stepped closer. "I know. And I regret every single day I spent away from you. But I came back because I realized something… life without you is emptier than any failure."
The rain poured harder, but neither of them moved.
After a long silence, Emma whispered, "Why should I believe you now?"
Daniel gently held her hand. "Because I never stopped loving you."
The train began to move slowly from the platform. Emma looked at Daniel, then at the departing train.
Finally, she smiled softly through her tears.
"Then don't leave again."
