Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: Scrap Reborn, Technology Emerges

Lin Fan gazed at the mountain of scrap before him, his eyes gleaming with excitement. What others saw as trash, in the face of his system with its "Tech Analysis" module, was an inexhaustible treasure trove.

[Tech Analysis module activated…]

On the system interface, countless data streams flashed rapidly. Lin Fan's gaze swept over the rusty mechanical parts, damaged electronic components, and twisted metal plates. In his mind, their materials, structures, and potential uses automatically appeared.

"Old Jack, I need a relatively quiet working area and some basic tools," Lin Fan said to Old Jack.

Old Jack pointed to a corner deep within the scrap yard, where an abandoned repair shed stood. "That used to be for repairing flying vehicles. There might still be some tools there."

Lin Fan led Emily to the repair shed. Although it was covered in dust, it at least had a roof. He began to select materials from the scrap heap. Emily watched him curiously, not understanding what he intended to do.

"Lin Fan, what are you doing?" Emily asked.

"Turning waste into treasure," Lin Fan smiled faintly. He picked up a damaged energy cell. Under the system's analysis, he discovered that although the battery's casing was broken, its internal energy core was still intact, merely contaminated. "This battery, after treatment, can be reused."

He began to work. With the knowledge provided by the system and his background as a physics graduate student, he displayed astonishing practical skills. He disassembled, cleaned, repaired, and assembled, each movement precise and swift.

Emily watched in stunned silence. She had never seen anyone capable of transforming these scraps into useful items. What she considered worthless junk seemed to come alive in Lin Fan's hands.

Three days later, a faint light illuminated the repair shed. Lin Fan had successfully created three technological products:

 1. Small Energy Purifier: Capable of purifying contaminated Origin Energy from discarded energy cells, restoring their usability. Though rudimentary, this purifier was sufficient to solve the energy problems of the scrap yard.

 2. Simple Signal Jammer: Could interfere with wireless signals within a certain range, useful for reconnaissance or defense. For wanderers in the wasteland, this was undoubtedly a life-saving tool.

 3. Multi-functional Detector Bracelet: Could detect surrounding Origin Energy fluctuations, life signs, and metallic minerals. This would be immensely helpful for finding resources and avoiding dangers in the wasteland.

[Quest complete! Gained Origin Energy points +100.]

[Tech Analysis module upgraded: Intermediate.]

Lin Fan looked at these three products, his heart filled with a sense of accomplishment. With the Tech Analysis module upgraded, his scope of analysis broadened, and the complexity of items he could create increased.

He brought these three products to Old Jack. Old Jack, seeing these items, a glint flashed in his cloudy eyes. He picked up the multi-functional detector bracelet, tried it out, and a look of shock appeared on his face.

"This… did you really make this from those scraps?" Old Jack's voice trembled slightly.

Lin Fan nodded.

Old Jack took a deep breath, then abruptly stood up and shouted to the wanderers in the scrap yard, "Come here, everyone! See what little brother Lin Fan has brought us!"

The wanderers gathered curiously. When they saw the energy purifier, signal jammer, and detector bracelet in Lin Fan's hands, they all showed expressions of disbelief. They had never imagined that what they considered trash could become such useful treasures.

Lin Fan demonstrated the functions of these products. When the energy purifier successfully purified a discarded battery, making it light up again, the entire scrap yard erupted in cheers.

"It's amazing!"

"With this, we won't have to worry about energy anymore!"

"A detector bracelet! This is simply a divine artifact in the wasteland!"

The wanderers were ecstatic, their eyes filled with admiration and fervor as they looked at Lin Fan. They saw hope, the hope of changing their miserable fate.

Old Jack walked over to Lin Fan, patting his shoulder, his eyes full of appreciation. "Young man, you did it. From today on, the scrap yard is your territory. These wanderers are also willing to follow you."

[System Initial Trial progress: 20%]

Lin Fan smiled faintly. He knew this was just the beginning. The scrap yard would be his first step in establishing his faction. He would use technology and power to create his own legend on this Martian wasteland.
