Chapter 2 - “The Promise to Wait”

🥀 Chapter 2: Letters That Never Stopped

Days passed… but for Arko, time felt different.

Everything around him was the same—the same streets, the same people—but something inside him had changed. Or maybe… someone had changed him.

Her.

The girl who never called him by his real name.

The girl who existed only through nicknames, letters, and stolen moments.

At first, he tried to ignore it.

"This is nothing," he told himself.

"Just another passing feeling."

But every night, when the world went quiet, his thoughts found their way back to her.

Her smile.

Her eyes.

That one second… that kiss.

He clenched his fists, annoyed at himself.

"Why am I thinking about her this much?"

Days turned into weeks.

He kept his promise.

No cigarettes.

No unnecessary fights.

No careless words.

It wasn't easy.

There were moments when his old self tried to come back—the rude, careless boy who didn't care about anyone. But every time he was about to give in, he remembered her voice.

"Wait for me."

Those three words stayed with him like a silent command.

Meanwhile, somewhere far away…

She waited too.

Every evening, she would sit by the same place where they used to exchange letters.

Hoping.

Expecting.

"Maybe today…"

But days kept passing.

No message.

No call.

Still, she didn't give up.

Because for the first time, she wasn't pretending.

This wasn't about jealousy.

This wasn't time pass anymore.

This was real.

One night, unable to hold it in anymore, Arko finally did what he promised.

He created an ID.

His fingers trembled slightly as he typed the name she had given him.

The nickname.

The only name that mattered.

He stared at the screen for a long time.

What should he say?

After everything… after all this time…

Would she still be waiting?

Taking a deep breath, he finally typed—

"Are you still there?"

He stared at the message.

Heart racing.

Waiting for a reply…
