Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: He Took a $100,000 Loan

The rain grew heavier. Yun City's night was swallowed by mist and water.

Ethan Cole stood by the roadside, completely soaked and freezing—but his eyes were clearer than ever.

His phone screen glowed.

Balance: $100,037.62

Mission: Reach $200,000 within 3 hours

"Still short a hundred thousand…" he muttered softly, as if making a decision.

The lottery earlier—that was luck.

But what came next… he had to take control.

"The faster the cash flow, the higher the return…"

Ethan recalled the system's hint.

Suddenly, a thought flashed through his mind.

A dangerous one.

Borrow money.

Not normal borrowing—but a loan shark.

In the past, he wouldn't even dare think about it.

But now, he had the system.

As long as money entered his account—it would multiply.

Which meant… he could use other people's money to leverage his fate.

Ethan took a deep breath, pulled out his phone, and opened his contacts.

He stopped at a name.

Hesitated for two seconds.

Then pressed call.

The line connected quickly.

A rough voice came from the other end.

"Who is this?"

"…It's me. Ethan."

There was a brief silence.

Then a chuckle.

"Oh? The delivery boy?"

"What, can't afford food now?"

Ethan ignored the mockery and went straight to the point.

"I need a loan."

The tone on the other end changed slightly.

"How much?"

"One hundred thousand."

Silence.

Then a cold laugh.

"You think you can pay it back?"

Ethan's voice was low—but steady.

"Three days."

"Principal and interest."

The man laughed again, darker this time.

"Fine."

"Same place."

"Be here in thirty minutes."

The call ended.

Ethan stood in the rain, his hand trembling slightly.

He knew—he had just stepped onto a road with no return.

But he didn't hesitate.

He turned and disappeared into the night.

Thirty minutes later.

A narrow alley.

Under dim lights, several men stood waiting.

The one in the middle had a cigarette in his mouth—the same voice from the phone.

"You brought the guts?"

Ethan walked forward.

"Where's the contract?"

The man smirked and tossed a paper over.

"Sign it. The money's yours."

Ethan glanced at it.

The interest was outrageous.

Absurd, even.

But he didn't hesitate.

He signed his name immediately.

The man raised an eyebrow.

"Decisive."

He waved his hand.

Someone handed over a black bag.

"One hundred thousand."

Ethan took it.

Heavy. Real.

The moment his hand touched the cash—

The system exploded in his mind.

[Ding!]

[Funds acquired: $100,000]

The next second—

[10,000x Cashback Triggered!]

Ethan's breath stopped.

But immediately, the system's voice changed.

[Loan detected: multiplier adjusted to 10x]

[Cashback: $1,000,000]

His phone vibrated violently.

A bank message popped up—

"Deposit received: $1,000,000.00"

Ethan froze.

One million.

Not a hundred thousand.

Not two hundred thousand.

One million.

He stared at the screen, his fingers trembling.

The numbers were crystal clear.

At that moment, he realized something.

The system didn't just multiply money—

It let him crush the rules of reality.

The man across from him frowned.

"What are you spacing out for?"

Ethan looked up.

His eyes were completely different now.

He pulled out the $100,000 from the bag—

And handed it back.

"I'll repay it now."

Silence.

The man froze.

"What did you just say?"

Ethan's tone was calm.

"Principal: $100,000."

"Interest?"

The man stared at him for a few seconds, then suddenly laughed.

"Interesting."

"You're the first one like this."

He raised two fingers.

"Twenty thousand."

Ethan nodded.

He transferred immediately.

$120,000.

The man checked his phone.

Then fell silent.

The atmosphere turned strange.

"Where did you get that money?"

His gaze turned dangerous.

Ethan replied calmly,

"None of your business."

Then he turned and left.

The rain was still pouring.

But this time—he didn't look back.

Hospital.

Payment counter.

Ethan stood at the window and handed over his phone.

"I'm paying for the surgery."

The nurse glanced at the screen.

"$200,000."

"Go ahead."

Beep—

Payment successful.

The sound was crisp—

Like a hammer striking reality.

The nurse froze.

She looked up at him.

This man, who had looked completely broken just moments ago—

Had just paid two hundred thousand in full.

"Payment received."

Ethan nodded and turned to leave.

Then—

A familiar voice rang out.

"Oh?"

"You actually managed to get the money?"

Ethan stopped.

Slowly turned around.

Not far away—

His boss stood there, sneering.

"How much did you borrow?"

"Did you bet your life on it?"

Ethan looked at him—

And suddenly smiled.

A faint smile.

Cold.

"Relax."

"I'm not the kind of person who survives by stealing someone else's woman."

The air froze instantly.

The boss's face darkened.

"You're asking for death?"

Ethan ignored him.

Turned and walked away.

Step by step.

Toward the operating room.

And what he didn't know—

In a corner of the hospital, someone quietly raised a phone…

And recorded everything.
