Chapter 50 - 50

Chapter 50 – The Great Blade Yama

After Naruto spent half an hour teaching SasukeMoon Breathing, he left him to his own devices.

He leapt down from the tree and looked toward Hinata, who was approaching.

Besides the bento box, she was also carrying a bag of fish fry.

"What kind of fish are these?"

Naruto took the plastic bag filled with water and couldn't help asking.

In his previous life he'd seen plenty of ornamental fish—usually red or blue and rather pretty.

"Silver carp."

Hinata cheerfully explained, "I heard they taste good, are easy to raise, and don't need much care."

Naruto opened his mouth, then closed it again.

This wasn't the result he'd wanted.

The original plan had been to plant lotus flowers and raise koi.

One day, when they had nothing to do, the two of them could sit by the lotus pond and watch ten thousand colorful koi swim.

Now it had turned into grilling fish beside the pond?

All romance was gone.

But the little loli seemed quite happy.

Naruto suspected he'd turned Hinata into a foodie.

Oh well, as long as she's happy.

He poured the fry into the pond, thought for a moment, then had a Shadow Clone go buy some water plants and feed.

They couldn't just grow up eating water.

Besides, that would be too slow.

A few days later Sasuke finally gave up on Moon Breathing.

No matter how he tried, he couldn't sense Natural Energy.

Sasuke looked discouraged and frustrated.

He'd heard from Naruto how powerful Sage Modewas, and now he couldn't learn it.

While he stagnated, Naruto kept advancing.

The gap between them widened again.

"Don't take it so hard."

Naruto saw at a glance what the guy was thinking.

He clapped his shoulder and consoled him: "Even with Sage Mode you still couldn't beat me."

"…"

Sasuke was so furious he drew his sword on the spot.

As a member of the Uchiha he basically never went anywhere without his blade—something he'd picked up from his older brother.

Uchiha Itachi's swordplay was stunning.

Of course, in the Land of Fire swords and knives aren't strictly distinguished; calling it a blade works too.

Naruto actually thought of Uchiha Madara.

Like Sasuke, he lacked the talent for Sage Mode, yet by absorbing Senju Hashirama's Sage Chakrahe could still use senjutsu.

In other words, Sasuke could copy the method.

But who could he drain?

Apart from Naruto himself, no one else had that much Sage Chakra.

After all, Naruto had Kurama, a nuclear power station.

But Naruto would rather die than let Sasukesiphon his Sage Chakra.

Damn it!

The thought immediately brought "mana transfer" to mind.

Only Hinata…

Sasuke, go cool off somewhere else.

Naruto quietly edged away and suggested, "Without Sage Mode you still have Lightning Release and the Sharingan. Stick with Kakashi-sensei and develop your Lightning Release."

He remembered that in the later story Sasuke had an S-rank Ninjutsu called Kirin, officially deemed the pinnacle of Lightning Release.

"Hmph, I know that without you telling me."

Sasuke sheathed his sword and stormed out of the Treehouse.

He swore he'd defeat that infuriating guy!

Seeing him brimming with fighting spirit, Narutonodded in satisfaction.

Even Uchiha Itachi would probably thank him for this.

After all, without needing a clan-massacring push, Sasuke was still striving desperately.

Provided he never found out Naruto was the one who stuffed the Magical Girl card into his belongings.

Naruto went to the stream to wash his hands.

Time for his daily card draw.

He currently had one normal draw and one targeted draw.

He hadn't decided what to aim for yet, so he'd try the normal one first.

[Drawing card… Congratulations, host: obtained one item card.]

Naruto glanced at the back—silver.

Not bad.

He flipped the card; the details appeared.

[item card: Sharing Card.]

[Description: Permanent item. Cards the hostobtains may be shared with Shadow Clones, but the same card cannot exist simultaneously.]

Fine—useful but not essential.

Once a clone held a card, he couldn't use it himself.

So any truly important cards definitely couldn't be handed over.

Naruto had a feeling the system favored his Shadow Clones.

Several cards already boosted them.

What, did it think he didn't cause enough trouble—or wasn't flamboyant enough?

He put the card away and resumed training.

Same old physical workout.

Other areas couldn't be neglected either.

Four Shadow Clones appeared before him.

One tended plants, one refined Chakra, one practiced Sage Mode, and one trained the Rasengan.

Right—a new addition: Rasengan.

Not the basic version but the advanced Great Ball Rasengan.

The A-rank Ninjutsu Naruto himself had created in the original story.

As expected from him, the principle was simple: cram a huge amount of Chakra into an ultra-dense sphere.

Simple—but only someone with Naruto's enormous reserves could manage it.

If Kakashi tried, he'd be toast.

The clones scattered.

Just as Naruto was about to start a weighted run, he was pulled into the Sealing Space.

"What is it, Kurama? I'm training."

"Let's play a round of gwent!"

"…"

Why did that line sound so familiar?

Should he answer, "Nobody in the Village can beat me"?

"I'll play with you tonight,"

Naruto refused.

"No way!"

Kurama said with deadly seriousness, "You stood me up last night—who knows if you'll do it again?"

Nice!

Even the word "stood me up" was in its vocabulary.

If it ever visited Bilibili it would fit right in.

"I had serious business last night."

Between Hinata and Kurama, the choice was obvious.

Naruto had to stay with his wife-to-be.

"What's so great about that woman?"

Kurama couldn't understand.

After all, it was a thousand-year single fox.

"It's not about looks—she's special… forget it, you wouldn't get it."

Naruto made a Shadow Clone.

Before Kurama could explode he needled, "Don't tell me you can't even beat one of my clones?"

"Of course I can!"

Kurama roared.

Naruto left the Sealing Space.

Tch—this fox is so easy to read.

A single sentence handled it.

If it weren't so powerful it'd probably help count the cash after being sold.

Summer arrived.

Naruto's fourth-year at the academy was more than half over.

He finally remembered what he needed: a weapon.

But he hadn't decided on the specific type.

Truthfully he wasn't sure himself.

Eight Extremes Fist covers fist, blade, sword, spear, staff, and rod.

He wanted them all, but could only pick one.

Might as well randomize it.

[Please set a keyword for the targeted draw.]

"Weapon."

Naruto answered.

[Keyword detected, drawing card… Congratulations, host: obtained one item card.]

[item card: Yama.]

[Description: Permanent special item card; one of the twenty-one Great Blades, a treasure that can cleave even to hell, said to slice iron like mud and destroy anything.]

[Note: The blade will drain vast amounts of the user's Chakra and may endanger life.]

[Note: If the blade perfectly matches the user's Chakra, it can ascend into a Black Blade.]

[Current compatibility: 100%, may be equipped.]
