Chapter 8 - Home

I fell asleep in the car. It's quite the achievement considering it's a twenty minute journey. Took me 3 minutes and BAM! Hehe. Just like that. However I failed to realise that we weren't immediately heading back to UA.

"Why are we here?" I asked standing in the middle of the mall with five bags in my arms and a smug Nezu.

"Well you need clothes don't you? Or do you want to walk around naked?" He replied.

"Ah."

"Yes 'ah'."

"How come we don't have any pyjamas then?"

"Well I've already ordered some custom made ones! You'll be sure to like them!" Nezu said cheerfully.

"This feels like a trap." I said looking down at him. "Also how'd you know my clothes size?"

"Well because we're both practically the same size I just referenced my own."

"I'm not that short surely…" I said slumping over my bags.

"Want to repeat that son?"

'ALARM BELLS.'

*Gulp*

"Never mind I'm just wondering when we are gonna be done."

"Patience Takaba… patience is a virtue after all. I've just got one thing left…" Nezu said ominously.

*Gulp*

——

"Phew" I sighed.

'Made it back to the car alive. At least people didn't talk to Nezu and hold us up. They definitely took pictures though.'

"You can put the bags into the back with you." A little voice brought me back to my senses.

"Right got it. You need help getting in Nezu?"

"Nah I'd win"

'Eh?'

"Hello..? Takaba you blanked out for a second." Nezu called to me from his seat.

"Oh. I'm back." I said while clambering into the car.

'Maybe I'm the one who needs help getting in the car…'

"Well then Takaba. You want to see what I bought?" Asked Nezu.

"Sure I'm pretty curious." I said while eyeing him up.

"Too bad."

*Sigh*

"Well then Takaba since I don't want you to drool in my car let's talk about your life's plan."

"Ouch"

"It's true." Nezu said with a deadpan.

"Indeed."

"Glad we're on the same page. Now then concerning your education I want to ask you about your intellect."

"Hmm… I'm just gonna tell you it straight. I'm pretty smart if I do say so myself and I have photographic memory so subjects at school should be a breeze." I said nonchalantly.

"Okay then well we are going to enroll you at Mustafu Elementary when you're six or in other words we will enroll you in two years. However, you won't have to formally attend and you can just show up for tests etc. It should be easy enough with your 'photographic memory'. Won't matter to me unless you don't stay at the top of the class." He cracked his knuckles.

"Um… okay? That's cool. Also is that the first time you've ever cracked your knuckles?"

"Yes of course! It's not a very good practise. So I better not find you doing the same." He cracked his knuckles again.

"Got it. You should probably stop too though. While it's a good way to make me follow orders I'm concerned for you hands now…"

"Thanks for the concern. I myself was also getting concerned for my hands! But moving on!" He struck a pose of one hand on his hip and the other pointing upwards. "You will also have to do the same for Junior High and then you may compete in an exam for UA!"

"If it's not much of a bother could I do the public exam and not the recommendation one?"

"Yes of course. I wouldn't want to take away the placement from someone who was recommended! Wouldn't be fair upon the recommended students considering you're going to be trained here!" He then lowered his hands. "I hope that doesn't sound too cut throat…"

"Nah I get it. There's a higher likelihood that the recommended students will be a lot more powerful than the public." I turned my head towards Nezu. "You want the best students right? So I'll try my best to become a great one."

"Well I appreciate that Takaba. I'm quite looking forward to seeing your future self now."

"You weren't already?" I narrowed my eyes.

"Oh would you look at that! We have arrived! Let's show you to your room!" He said while scamp- never mind I'm showing bias. He said while waddling off.

I quickly ran to catch up to him to find a bunch of people standing around principal Nezu's office with tools in hand.

"Sir." A gruff voice cut through the crowd of five. A big looming shadow stood over them. "The changes have been made."

"Excellent. You may return to your stations now." Nezu replied while swaying onto his tiptoes for a second. "Let's ground your quirk to my office door. How does that sound?"

"That… should be fine." I said while squinting my eyes.

'He's definitely up to something.'

"Why don't you do that now?"

"Ah right". Shaking my head I pressed my hand to the door.

'Gate. Set.'

Air flowed around my hand before dispersing.

"All done. I'm going to try it now okay."

I placed a gate beneath my feet whilst not thinking of an exit. I fell straight through the floor only to end up face first on the ground.

'Ow… holy shit.'

I got up to see a pure white expanse seeming illuminated by nothing stretching out far. My perception expanded as I could feel the shape of my domain.

'It's shaped like a sphere cut in half. A dome? That seems about right'.

I sat down while marvelling at my domain.

"SHIT I FORGOT ABOUT NEZU!"

I quickly slapped the floor beneath me before thinking of the hallway I was just in.

"Ah there you are. You were gone for twenty seconds." Nezu said standing next to me.

"Oh yeah. It's fine in there. Want to come check it out??" I said breathlessly.

"Sure." He placed his hand on the door and disappeared.

'That fast?'

I quickly followed suit.

"This is quite interesting. Just think of all you could carry at once. Well then show me a creation." Nezu said without looking at me his hand clapped behind his back, tails twitching with excitement.

"I will make… a tie!"

Takaba concentrated while imagining a red tie in his hands. Much like the tie he had seen earlier while shopping. It then materialised instantly without any special effects.

'Oof.'

Takaba immediately felt much more tired than he already was. Beads of sweat dripped down his forehead.

"Well then." A cheerful voice cut through Takaba's thoughts. "I can already think of a training regime.

'Dear God…'

A/N: training arc. Gonna mostly skip but will show the relationship progressing with peers and others.
