Chapter 1 - terror in the forest

Terror in the Forest

On a cold winter morning, Sanjay went on a picnic with his family—his wife Meena, son Rahul (14), and daughter Piu (10). They chose a quiet place far from the city, surrounded by hills and dense forest.

As their car moved along the winding road and reached the spot, all they could see around them were trees and hear birds chirping. The place was beautiful, but an unusual silence seemed to hide something mysterious.

"Dad, does anyone live here?" Rahul asked nervously.

Sanjay smiled, "No, that's the fun—it's completely peaceful!"

They settled in a small open area and started cooking. Meena prepared food while the kids played. Everything was going well until the afternoon, when the weather suddenly began to change.

Dark clouds covered the sky, and a cold wind started blowing.

"I think a storm is coming," Meena said anxiously.

Sanjay quickly began packing things. Just then, a strange sound came from inside the forest—as if something was watching them.

Piu clutched her mother's hand, "Mom, what is that sound?"

No one had an answer.

Suddenly, the storm hit. Tree branches started breaking and falling. They ran toward the car, only to find a large tree blocking the road.

They were trapped.

"What do we do now?" Meena said, almost in tears.

Sanjay tried to stay calm, "We need to find shelter."

With a torchlight, they entered the forest. After walking for a while, they found an old, broken hut.

"Let's stay here for now," Sanjay said.

As they entered, a cold breeze swept through them. The place looked abandoned, yet it felt like someone had been there.

Suddenly, the door slammed shut—BANG!

Everyone jumped in fear.

Rahul whispered, "Dad… was that the wind?"

Sanjay had no answer.

Night fell. Outside, the storm raged, and now and then that strange sound echoed again.

Suddenly, Piu screamed, "Someone's there!"

They looked—and saw a shadow moving in the corner of the room.

When Sanjay pointed the torch, they saw an old man standing there!

His eyes were strange, and he had a mysterious smile.

"Why have you come here?" he asked in a rough voice.

Sanjay gathered courage, "We came for a picnic and got stuck in the storm."

The old man slowly stepped forward and said, "This forest is not safe… tonight will be very difficult."

Meena asked fearfully, "Do you live here?"

The old man didn't answer. He only said, "If you want to survive, light a fire—and don't go outside if someone calls you."

Then suddenly, he disappeared!

Everyone was shocked.

"Was that real?" Rahul said, trembling.

Sanjay quickly gathered wood and lit a fire. The four of them sat close together.

The night grew deeper.

Suddenly, a voice came from outside—"Sanjay… open the door…"

It sounded exactly like Meena!

But Meena was sitting right beside him!

Meena said, shaking, "I didn't say anything!"

The voice came again, louder—"Open the door!"

Piu started crying.

Sanjay remembered the old man's warning—"Don't go outside if someone calls you."

He said firmly, "No one will open the door!"

After some time, the voice stopped. But then a shadow began circling outside the window—as if something was waiting.

The night felt endless.

At last, dawn arrived, and everything became quiet.

They opened the door and stepped outside—the storm had stopped, and everything seemed normal.

The road was clear again, as if nothing had happened.

"Let's leave this place," Sanjay said.

They quickly got into the car and drove away.

As they left, Piu looked back and saw the old man standing in front of the hut… slowly waving at them.

She was about to say something, but suddenly he disappeared.

After that day, Sanjay and his family could never forget the experience. They realized—not every beautiful place is safe; some hide mystery and danger within.

The End.
