Chapter 1 - The Last Scream

Rain poured like punishment from the heavens, hammering against the cracked window of a forgotten apartment on the city's edge. In the dim light, Elara Voss stood before a broken mirror, red lipstick trembling in her hand. The reflection stared back—beautiful, haunted, and hollow.

She painted her lips carefully. Not for beauty. For purpose.

The red wasn't color—it was war paint.

Outside, thunder rolled over the alleyways where monsters wore human faces. She knew them well. She'd met one years ago—one who stole her laughter, her childhood, and left her with scars that only bled in silence.

Now, Elara hunted them.

She walked the night streets with calm steps, dressed in black, the kind of beauty that drew eyes—and danger. When she smiled, men thought it meant invitation. It meant judgment.

She found him behind a bar that reeked of whiskey and rot.

A man with a predator's grin. The kind that once haunted her dreams.

"Cold night," she said softly, her voice a mix of silk and shadow.

He smirked, leaning closer. "You alone, sweetheart?"

She nodded. "For now."

He didn't see the blade beneath her coat.

He didn't see the tremor in her fingers that wasn't fear, but fury.

Minutes later, the alley swallowed his screams.

When silence returned, Elara crouched beside the lifeless man and brushed her fingers against his cheek. Her breath was soft, almost tender.

Then she kissed him—one last red mark on his lips.

A symbol. A warning.

She wiped her mouth and whispered, "For every girl you silenced."

As she walked away, the city lights blurred into gold and shadow. Somewhere far off, sirens wailed—but Elara didn't run. She never did.

Her vengeance had just begun.

And miles away, in another corner of the city, a man watched her from a rooftop—camera in hand, eyes full of curiosity and something darker.

He smiled.

"She's back," he murmured. "My crimson angel."
