Chapter 42 - Old acquaintance?

Soilders has been spread all over the kingdom in search of the grand duke and the people have also been informed to keep an eye out for him. A bounty has also been placed on Valerius.

The court has called in Drusilla to question her about her father's whereabouts. The court officials are all seated respectfully while Drusilla stands in the middle of it all being questioned. "We have reasons to believe that you are harboring a fugitive…after all, he is your father ", the head of security states. "Think? We know she is hiding him", a noble lady exclaims. Drusilla looks at them one after the other before shaking her head as she speaks, "you're all traitors, turning your backs against my father, the grand duke, all because of an outsider?!" "No, we're simply bringing him to justice for committing a crime against the Royal Consort", the prime minister answered. "Believe it or not, I don't know where my father is, even if I did I wouldn't betray him!", Drusilla retorts then points an accusing finger at Aurelian seated beside Draven, "you…you're the reason my life is a mess, why won't you just…" "You're in the royal court, where your words alone can have you punished so I'll suggest you pick your next words carefully", Aurelian says cutting Drusilla's sentence short. Drusilla swallows, her eyes darting around as if just clocking her surroundings and her cheeks flushed from humiliation.

The court continues its assessment for a while until it was time to decide what happens to Drusilla until the Grand Duke is found. "She should be arrested after all we're all aware of her ill intentions towards the royal consort", one noble man suggests. "She should be restrained", another noble suggested. Eventually the Royal Court came to a decision to not arrest Drusilla but restrict her from going anywhere near the palace.

After the court meeting, Aurelian walks alongside Draven to the training grounds, "do you think Valerius will be found?" Aurelian asks out of nowhere. "No…I don't think,I know he will be found", Draven affirms before adding, "and he will be brought to justice, trust me". Aurelian nods and smiles, "I trust you" "good". They get to the training grounds where Draven wanted to do some sessions when Aurelian suddenly grabbed his wrist. "I want to train too, I've only ever been good at archery so I…I felt helpless when I got kidnapped I don't want to feel that way again so teach me", Aurelian says stepping closer, "please". Draven looked at Aurelian, really looked, he didn't see a fragile Prince or a dependent consort, he saw someone ready to fight after almost being killed and that, that takes the kind of courage even he doesn't have. So Draven didn't stop him, instead he lead Aurelian to the wide field and taught hhim the basic steps first, how to hold a sword right, the correct fighting stance, and how to swing the sword for defense. Aurelian was a fast learner because by the time the sun set low in the sky, he had already known the basics although not perfectly but he was getting there.

Draven had to force Aurelian to stop practicing and go take a shower because the stubborn Prince wouldn't stop till he got it right. After the both of them had showered, and were already getting ready for bed, a knock came on their door. Draven opened it a little annoyed, "what could possibly require our attention by this time?" he complained, the messenger at the door immediately bowed before handing over a letter to Draven, "A letter for the Royal Consort, your highness, it is said that after the unfaithful incident with the Grand Duke, moonveil will send one of their own to watch after Prince Aurelian!" The messenger delivered, "what? We are completely capable of protecting Aurelian, I am…" Draven stops, then dismissed the messenger before closing the door and returning to bed, he hands Aurelian the letter from his parents,"They're sending someone over". Aurelian takes in Draven's expression before opening the letter with the Moonveil kingdom seal. The letter reads; "Dear Prince Aurelian of Moonveil Kingdom and Royal consort of the Nightbane Kingdom, this is to inform you of the immediate assignment of Sir Maelor Veyne as your personal knight, he will guard and assist you personally and he will also be within your sight all the time. He has been personally chosen by the King and Queen of Moonveil. He is experienced, skilled, intelligent and strong, other reasons why he was chosen is because of your history together, making him trustworthy and personally close with the Prince. Sincerely, the Royal Court of Moonveil Kingdom." At the end of the letter both Aurelian and Draven looked at each other and Draven's jaw was already clenched tight like a man ready to fight for his territory.
