Chapter 5 - Chapter 185: The Power of Time

Now, Hawaii, the same location as the octopus monster.

A trace of disbelief still lingered in Shendu's eyes.

Just now, approximately five seconds after he and Drago had confirmed their plan.

Inside the stone wall cavern before him, a majestic will abruptly appeared. This will gently brushed over the giant octopus statue, and the statue gradually turned into particles, scattering into the air as if it had never existed.

This was the first time Shendu had felt a power of a higher order than his own.

Furthermore, the depth of this power was terrifyingly high. If that strike had been applied to him just now, Shendu felt that even if he exhausted all his current strength, he wouldn't be able to resist for even a single second.

Even the peak in his memories could not compare to this power; at most, it would have given him a slight ability to resist, but it could not have changed the power's ultimate objective.

In other words, even if the peak Shendu were here, if that power wanted to destroy the Dragon Tooth, he could resist for a moment at most, but he could not stop the power from completely destroying it...

Is this... the power of time?

Shendu's mind constantly replayed that power from just now, and he realized he had gained a new understanding of time.

Shendu stepped forward and took out half of Ma Jius magic orb from the wall; this item was a legacy of power left behind by a Black Qi Demon Wizard.

Furthermore, there was a trace of consciousness within it, though that consciousness was currently trembling in fear.

Shendu thought for a moment, then his massive soul surged into the magic orb, easily erasing the soul within.

He toyed with the half-purple magic orb for a moment before turning to leave.

When he reappeared, Shendu had already arrived at the summit of a high mountain.

At the top of this barren mountain was a circular stone, identical to the half magic orb in his hand.

This magic orb was the one Jimmy held in the show, capable of amplifying a wizard's mana tenfold. It had once been something even Future Uncle couldn't handle.

In Shendu's eyes, this thing was simply an amplification device, and it was influenced by a remnant soul—most likely that wizard named Ma Jiu wanted to use a later wizard's body to resurrect.

But now that the soul had been erased, once the magic orb was complete, it would truly become just an amplifier.

For realms below Archmage, it could indeed amplify mana tenfold, and even for a wizard at the Archmage realm, it could double the user's mana.

It was a decent item.

He could take this back later for those little dragons to play with as a protective dharma treasure.

Thinking this, Shendu waited quietly. After about ten minutes, he reached out toward the cliff wall, and the moment he touched the other half of Ma Jius magic orb...

In the sky, a surge of righteous qi suddenly erupted, and a cloud of smoke formed into a wheel shape, obscuring the sunlight.

Immediately after, a monster with an eagle's head and a lion's body, possessing massive feathered wings and a long tail, charged out from the smoke accompanied by a vast amount of righteous qi.

Screee~!

A loud, angry eagle cry rang out as the Griffin abruptly looked down at the fellow holding the completed version of Ma Jius magic orb, preparing to fulfill its duty as a guardian beast.

Then, the entire Griffin froze.

Looking at the massive and hideous demon before it, the Griffin felt its wings go weak, and its entire body felt limp.

Had it just roared at this monster?

Shendu glanced at the Griffin. Seeing it was still alive and kicking, a smile played at the corners of his mouth.

The parallel timeline theory he had deduced through Shendu's knowledge and his memories as a transmigrator was entirely correct.

The three worlds were indeed in a very delicate situation right now.

The time of the three worlds was almost linked together, yet the timelines were three complete and independent strands. This subtle state of superposition would be broken by someone traveling through time, eventually causing the three timelines to become independent during time's self-check.

However, because the damaged parts of the three timelines were identical, they would stay very close or even maintain a state of overlap until time and space were completely repaired, or... until someone obtained the memory gem and placed it into the Temple of the Ages.

Therefore...

Shendu ignored the Griffin. This world needed a resurgence of righteous qi; leaving this creature posed no threat and could add to the biological diversity of this world.

So he wouldn't destroy it. Most importantly, its existence was proof that the past and present times no longer affected each other...

He casually erased the remaining traces of Ma Jiu's soul from the magic orb, then took a step and instantly returned to Dragon City.

He tossed Ma Jius magic orb to Shen An: "Here, take this to play with."

Shen An was stunned for a moment. She looked at the magic orb she had caught and, feeling the nearly tenfold amplification it provided, her eyes widened.

What kind of treasure was this? Although it wasn't that pretty, its effect seemed very precious.

She instinctively hugged her treasure tightly, her big eyes warily scanning left and right. Although her parents no longer snatched her treasures, the habit formed over the years still made her cautious.

Once she snapped out of it, Shen An immediately smiled. She popped Ma Jius magic orb into her mouth to store it in her treasury, then excitedly pulled out the [King's Daily Record] to record this scene with a flourish.

Meanwhile, Shendu re-entered the palace of the Divine Abyss. He looked at the passage before him, his eyes full of greed.

As long as this passage remained open, he could contact Drago in that world and directly control his body, or even burn parts of the soul in that world to temporarily reinforce the passage, granting Drago even greater power.

Of course, he wouldn't do that now. Although soul deficiencies could be compensated for demons, it was extremely resource-intensive.

Speaking of resources, Shendu looked at the resources he had prepared, a look of heartache appearing in his eyes.

Although his treasury could maintain the space-time passage for three hundred years, this only showed that his treasury was relatively abundant; the rate of resource consumption was terrifying.

Just going out for that short while had burned through a total amount of resources equivalent to what a talented person would need to cultivate from a mortal to a Demon Wizard.

Shendu immediately stepped into his position, and the endless energy within his body—specifically the power from the dragon talisman—erupted.

In the area where the resources were being consumed, all consumption stopped instantly. Shendu's power could perfectly adapt to the space-time passage.

Or rather, this was a space-time passage developed according to his power. This was also the reason why, in the show, a single dragon talisman allowed people to safely and continuously travel between the present and the future.

After all, Future Uncle's time travel method was most likely something he had seen in the compendium of spells.

Thinking this, Shendu sat cross-legged. While continuously outputting mana, he began to seriously observe the space-time passage.

He constantly recalled the knowledge of researching time from his memories, as well as the aura of the space-time power that had erased the giant octopus just now.

Transforming the world in the future would definitely involve time.

This could be considered preparing in advance.
