Chapter 2 - EPIC ADVENTURES: THE BLLADE OF LIGHT

Chapter 2: The Girl Who Knew Too Much

The village was still in shock.

Smoke curled into the sky where homes once stood. Ash covered the ground like snow. And in the middle of it all…

Kai stood frozen.

The sword in his hand had dimmed, but it was still warm… still alive.

People stared at him like he wasn't the same person anymore.

Maybe… he wasn't.

"Drop it."

The voice was calm.

Too calm.

Kai turned.

Standing a few steps away was a girl—long golden hair flowing gently behind her, her eyes sharp and unreadable. In her hands was an open book, glowing faintly with strange symbols.

She didn't look scared.

She looked… certain.

"…Who are you?" Kai asked, tightening his grip on the sword.

Instead of answering, she stepped closer.

"I said drop it," she repeated. "Before it's too late."

Kai frowned. "Too late for what?"

Her eyes flicked to the blade.

"For you."

The air shifted.

Kai felt it—something heavy, like invisible pressure building around them.

"You shouldn't be able to hold that sword," she continued. "Not unless—"

She stopped mid-sentence.

Her eyes widened slightly.

"…No way."

Kai's patience snapped. "Can you just explain what's going on?! My village just got destroyed, monsters fell from the sky, and now you're acting like I'm the problem?"

For a moment, silence stretched between them.

Then the girl closed her book.

"…Fine," she said softly. "But you're not going to like it."

"My name is Lyra."

They stood near the edge of the ruined village now, away from the others.

"That sword you're holding," she continued, pointing at it, "is called The Blade of Light."

Kai glanced down at it. "…Okay?"

"It doesn't belong to this world."

"…What?"

Lyra's expression didn't change. "It appears only when the balance between light and darkness is breaking. And when it does…" she paused, looking directly into his eyes, "…it chooses someone."

Kai let out a dry laugh. "Yeah? And it picked me? You've got the wrong guy."

"I don't."

Her answer was instant.

Firm.

Unshaken.

"You activated it," she said. "Do you know how many people have tried and failed? Kings. Warriors. Mages."

Kai swallowed.

"…So what does that mean?"

Lyra hesitated.

And for the first time… she looked unsure.

"It means," she said slowly, "you're now connected to it."

Kai blinked. "Connected how?"

"…If the sword breaks—"

She stopped.

Kai's chest tightened. "If it breaks, what?"

Lyra looked away.

"You die."

Silence.

The words hung in the air, heavy and impossible.

Kai stared at her, waiting for her to laugh. To say it was a joke.

She didn't.

"…You're lying."

"I wish I was."

He shook his head, stepping back. "No. No, that's not—this doesn't make any sense. I didn't ask for this!"

"I know."

"Then take it back!" he snapped, holding the sword out toward her. "You seem to know everything—so fix it!"

Lyra didn't move.

"I can't."

Kai's voice dropped. "…Why?"

"Because once it chooses you…" she said quietly, "…it never lets go."

The wind picked up, carrying ash through the air.

Kai's hands trembled slightly as he lowered the sword.

Everything felt wrong.

Too fast.

Too much.

"…So what now?" he asked, his voice quieter now. "I just… walk around with this thing and hope I don't die?"

Lyra watched him carefully.

"No," she said.

"You learn how to use it."

Kai let out a weak laugh. "And if I don't?"

Her expression hardened.

"Then the next time those creatures come…"

She gestured to the destruction around them.

"…there won't be anything left to save."

Kai fell silent.

He looked at the village.

At the people.

At the damage.

Then back at the sword.

The same one from his dreams.

The same one that saved everyone.

"…This is crazy," he whispered.

Lyra nodded slightly. "It is."

Another pause.

Then—

"…Fine."

Lyra blinked. "Fine?"

Kai exhaled slowly, running a hand through his hair. "If this thing is stuck with me… then I'll figure it out."

His grip on the sword tightened.

"I'm not letting something like this happen again."

For the first time—

Lyra smiled.

Just a little.

"Good," she said.

"Because this is only the beginning."
