Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Rebirth

Pain.

That was the first thing Alex felt.

His body felt heavy, and his head was spinning.

"Am I… alive?"

He slowly opened his eyes.

A bright white ceiling greeted him.

The smell of medicine filled the air.

Hospital?

Alex frowned.

Wasn't he just hit by a car?

He clearly remembered the loud horn… the impact… and then darkness.

"So… this is the afterlife?" he muttered.

"No, young master. You are very much alive."

A deep, calm voice suddenly came from beside him.

Alex's eyes widened.

He turned his head and saw an old man standing there, dressed in a black suit, his posture straight and imposing.

"Who… are you?" Alex asked, confused.

The old man smiled slightly.

"My name is Henry. I have been searching for you for a long time, young master."

"Searching… for me?"

Alex was even more confused now.

"Yes," Henry nodded.

"You are Alex Carter… the only heir of the Carter family."

Boom.

Those words exploded in Alex's mind.

"Heir? What are you talking about? I'm just a poor—"

"Not anymore," Henry interrupted calmly.

He took out a document and handed it to Alex.

"This is proof of your identity."

Alex's hands trembled as he took it.

As he read the contents, his breathing became heavier.

Billions…

Properties…

Power…

Everything written there was beyond imagination.

"This… this can't be real…" he whispered.

Henry looked at him seriously.

"It is real, young master. Your grandfather has been waiting for you."

Alex clenched the paper tightly.

His mind flashed back to everything—

Emma's betrayal.

The humiliation.

The laughter of the crowd.

Slowly… his expression changed.

His eyes turned cold.

"If this is real…" he said quietly,

"Then I won't live the same life again."

Henry smiled.

"Of course, young master."

"This time… the world will be yours."
