Chapter 1 - THE DAY THE SKY TREMBLED

The streets of Eryndor were unusually quiet that morning. Even the merchants, normally shouting over each other to sell their wares, seemed hesitant, as if the city itself sensed the tension brewing above.

Aiden Liora walked along the cobblestone roads, his hands tucked into the pockets of his worn coat. On the surface, he looked like any other young man. But the faint shimmer around his eyes—just a subtle glint that most people would dismiss as reflection—hinted at something far beyond ordinary.

He passed the fountain in the central square, the water rippling unnaturally. With a casual flick of his finger, a stone that had fallen into the fountain floated back onto the edge, suspended midair for a heartbeat before dropping softly. No one around him noticed, but Aiden smiled faintly. Some things were easier when no one was watching.

"Morning, Aiden!" called a cheerful voice. He glanced to see Mira, a childhood friend, waving from a fruit stall. Her smile was bright, but her eyes were shadowed with worry.

"Morning," he replied, keeping his tone casual. "You're early."

"Something feels… off today," she said, lowering her voice. "Did you see the clouds? They're… weird. Almost like they're moving on their own."

Aiden glanced skyward. The horizon shimmered, faintly splitting into impossible angles, like reality itself was bending. His chest tightened—not with fear, but anticipation. Something was coming, and he had felt its pull even before the clouds began to twist.

A sudden tremor shook the city. A cart overturned in the street, barrels rolling in all directions. People screamed and scattered. Aiden's hand shot out, catching the largest barrel with ease. The wood cracked under his grip, but he didn't flinch.

"Everything okay?" he asked, setting the barrel down. Around him, everyone stared in awe—but Aiden didn't wait for their approval.

A deep, resonant rumble came from above. The sky tore open, a jagged rift revealing a dark void, speckled with strange, flickering lights. Shadows moved within it—creatures no one had ever seen, their forms warping and twisting.

Aiden felt the power inside him surge, responding instinctively. His heartbeat slowed, mind sharpening, senses extending beyond the city. The rift was calling him, whispering secrets of worlds beyond his own.

And then she appeared.

A figure gliding effortlessly from the void—Seraphine Vale—her hair shimmering like liquid starlight, eyes unreadable. She landed lightly before him, radiating calm and authority.

"You're Aiden Liora," she said, voice soft but resonant, like the echo of a song long forgotten. "And you are the one the prophecy spoke of."

Aiden narrowed his eyes, taking in the serene but powerful stranger. "Prophecy? What are you talking about?"

Before she could answer, a screeching roar split the air. Shadows spilled from the rift, their forms solidifying into monstrous shapes that lunged toward the city.

Aiden didn't hesitate. With a single step, he met the first shadow head-on. His fist collided with it, and the force rippled like a shockwave, sending nearby buildings quivering. The creature shattered into pieces, black smoke fading into the air.

Seraphine watched, unblinking. "Impressive," she said. "But this is only the beginning."

Aiden's gaze returned to the rift. He felt a pull stronger than gravity, stronger than fear, stronger than anything he had ever known. Somewhere beyond that tear, countless worlds were calling him. And he knew, deep down, his life had just begun.
