Chapter 8 - Chapter Eight

Ethan's pov

Daybreak's hazy glow began to creep through the net curtains of the bedroom.

My mate stirred beneath the warm blankets, her body curled against mine, our limbs tangled from the night we had spent.

I never thought this would happen, I never thought I'd easily accept my mate into my life and fall head over heels for her even though I just met her not too long ago.

A small smile tugged the end of my lips as I glanced down at my mate's sleeping form. She's so fragile and tiny and yet beautiful.

She's perfect for me and I'm not at least bothered by the fact that she's human.

I will do absolutely everything in my power to protect her and keep her safe from any harm.

"Alpha you there?" Andrew's voice burst through the mindlink.

"Yeah what's up?"

"We have a problem."

I exhaled. "What is it now?"

"We found a rogue just outside the cabin."

"I'll be down in a minute." I said ending the link.

My gaze flickered over to Freya, she's still fast asleep.

I pressed a soft kiss on her temple. "I'll be back soon mate," I whispered, slowing tearing myself away from her.

I grabbed my clothes from the floor and quickly slipped them on.

When I stepped outside, just a few meters away from the cabin, I spotted Andrew

Accompanied by a few of my guards.

The rogue is on the ground, bound by sliver cuffs.

I leaned down grabbing the rogue by the collar of his shirt. "What were you doing in my territory?" I asked but it sounded more like a growl.

Freya's pov

My eyes fluttered open, the soft light

Of a flickering fire casting warm shadows across the room.

My breath hitched as I remembered what happened between Ethan and I last night. I gave myself to a complete stranger and it felt amazing. I didn't expect my first time would turn out to be this perfect.

Ethan was a gentlemen, he kept on asking If I was okay and the way he looked at me made my heart flutter.

My eyes darted to the other side of the bed only to find it empty.

Where is he? I wondered.

A small whimper left my lips as soon as I placed my feet on the cold floor. My body seemed to be feeling the afteraffects of what happened last night.

Suddenly a loud crashing sound outside drew my attention, braking me away from my thoughts.

What was that?

I quickly slipped my pajamas on and hurried downstairs. My steps haltered when I heard another crashing sound.

What's going on? And where's Ethan?

What if he's out there being attacked by a wild animal. We're in the middle of the woods so there are wild animals lurking around here. I need to go out there and see if anything has happened to him.

I strode toward the kitchen, the floor boards creeked beneath my feet. I glanced around the cabin searching for some sort of weapon.

I then opened the drawers and pulled out a knife. if there is a wild animal out there I'd be able to defend myself with this, hopefully it isn't a bear.

I slowly saunter to the door, grabbing the doorknob.

"I asked you a fucking question, what were you doing in my territory?" I heard Ethan yell.

I let go of the doorknob and step away from the door.

I moved to the window and peeked through the blinds to see what's really going on outside.

My heart nearly stopped beating when I see Ethan. He looked inhuman, more like a beast. He had long sharp fangs, and as for his eyes they were longer

Amber but blood red, along with red veins appearing around them.

What is he?

He has his fingers wrapped around a mans throat and lifted him into the air.

"I'm asking you one more time, what were you doing in my territory rogue?"

The man snickered, narrowing his eyes at Ethan. "He's coming, he knows that you found her."

"What the fuck are you talking about?" He roared.

"Unfortunately I can't tell you anything further than I already have."

"Then I'm afraid I'm going to have to end your pathetic miserable life."

Ethan sneered, tilting his head to the side.

A gasp escaped my lips but I quickly covered my mouth when Ethan drove his fist into the man's chest and ripped out his heart.

My heart pounded in my chest as I immediately stepped away from the window. My palms grew clammy, and a chill ran down my spine.

What have I gotten myself into? I need to get out of here before he plans on killing me next.

Before my legs could even move, the door swung open and Ethan stood at the doorway and I completely froze.

He no longer looked like a monster but human, his eyes were back to their usual amber colour.

The taste of bile rose to my mouth and I swallowed, the acid rising and burning my throat. My hands started to tremble as clutched the knife tighter in my hand.

Ethan's gaze darted to the knife and then flickered to me. He casually stepped inside and slammed the door behind him, his gaze never leaving mine.

He stalked toward me in slow deliberate steps.

"Give me the knife Freya." He said, his voice low and calm.

"No." I muttered. "What are you? And how could you kill someone in such a ruthless manner?"

He sighed. "I can explain everything just give me the knife, please."

I snickered. "Explain what? That you're a monster.

I need to get out of here. It was a mistake coming here, this town is crazy and you're crazy."

Ethan's jaw clenched, his nostrils flared as he stalked closer to me. His piercing gaze made my stomach churn.

"You're not going anywhere, this is where you belong now here beside me."

My throat tightened and I gritted my teeth.

"You can't force me to stay here with you!" I snarled, pointing the knife at him.

He let out a dark humourless chuckle that sent a shiver down my spine.

"I can, I can do whatever I want and there's nothing anyone can do to stop me. You're mine now Freya, you belong to me!" He claimed enunciating every word, as he trailed the pads of his thumb across my chin.
