Chapter 7 - Chapter 7 - The Abyss of Despair

Naina woke up in an unfamiliar suite. Her limbs felt heavy; her hands and legs were chained. The room was dark, but a sliver of light illuminated a figure standing nearby: Manik.

He approached her, offering a chilling, devilish smile. He called over one of his bodyguards and instructed him to administer an injection. Naina struggled violently, but the drug was quickly pushed into her. As the edges of consciousness frayed, she heard Manik callously tell the bodyguard, "Enjoy the night." Then, she slipped into a deep, drug-induced sleep.

The next morning, Naina woke up to overwhelming pain throughout her body. She was covered in bites and bruises—unmistakable signs that someone had forcefully slept with her. Painfully, she stood and stumbled toward a mirror. Seeing the horrific bruises, a wave of despair washed over her. She snatched a vase, her eyes locked on her reflection, which was dissolving in tears. She smashed the vase, and the mirror shattered, sending shards of glass scattering across the floor, reflecting her fragmented self.

She collapsed into uncontrolled sobs, the thought hammering in her mind: Who was that person last night?

Her mind screamed the horrifying progression of her life:

* First, I was a slave.

* Then, a forced wife.

* Now, I am a slut and a prostitute.

Why was Manik doing this to her? The torture had become unbearable. Naina decided she could no longer live.

She quickly put on the clothes that lay scattered on the floor and stumbled out the door. She reached the elevator bay and pressed the button for the terrace.

The Breaking Point and the Return

Meanwhile, in the suite next door, Manik was sleeping soundly. He was awoken by a frantic call from his guards: Naina was missing. Panic seized him. Where was Naina? He immediately ordered his guards to search for his wife.

He remembered the night before. After the injection, he had gone to Naina. He had spent the night with her—a night of passionate, wild intimacy, fueled by his own confused emotions, not by the guard. The cruel lie he had spoken was just another layer of his twisted torment.

Present Time

Naina was lost in the horrifying thoughts of her shattered life as she arrived at the terrace railing. Manik burst out of the elevator and saw her standing dangerously close to the edge. He realized, with a sickening drop in his gut, that he was truly losing her. His heart shattered. Ignoring the incessant buzzing of Vikram's calls, Manik began to beg and cry, pleading with her to step down.

Naina was deaf to his cries, her gaze fixed only on the ground far below. She was preparing to jump when a voice pierced through the fog of her despair-a voice she hadn't heard in two years.

She turned back and saw Maya, her fraternal twin sister. Tears of relief and joy flooded Naina's eyes-her sister was alive! But the joy was instantly tainted by self-loathing. She wasn't the pure girl Maya remembered. As the thoughts raced, her foot slipped. She was falling.

Manik lunged and caught her, but she desperately pushed him away. Just as she slipped completely, another set of hands grabbed her: it was Maya and Simran (who had recovered and were now with Maya). They pulled her back to safety.

Naina collapsed onto the terrace floor. Manik immediately enveloped her in a crushing hug. He was about to speak, but he was roughly shoved away by Maya, who cried, "Di, are you alright?"

Naina lay there, silent and emotionless, in her sister's tight embrace.

"Di, aren't you happy to see me?" Maya asked, her voice laced with pain.

Naina couldn't speak. She tried to move away from everyone. Maya grabbed her hand, begging, "Didu, please talk to me! "Please, Didu!" Naina tried to pull her hand away, but the intensity of Maya's love finally broke through her emotional wall. Tears streamed down her face, meeting Maya's.
