Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: The Displaced King

I was the undisputed king of my household My father's pride and my mother's ultimate joy In our family I was the only Ladla the golden son who commanded everyone's attention Whether it was the first piece of dessert or the coins handed out by guests my hand was always the first to receive them I lived with the arrogance of a boy who knew he had no rivals

Then came the intruder

Meera My stepsister's daughter My niece by relation but a complete stranger to my heart She didn't just walk into our house she invaded my territory

At first I watched silently I thought the extra attention she got was just because she was a guest But soon my world started shifting The seat next to my father which was always mine was now occupied by her The sweets that were bought for me were shared with her first

The 'Ladla' was being pushed into the shadows

Every time my parents praised her for a small thing, a wall of ego began to rise between us. She was younger smaller but in my eyes she was a rival I hated the way she looked at me with that innocent smile unaware that she was dismantling my kingdom brick by brick

I didn't want to play with her I wanted my old life back I wanted the attention that she had unknowingly stolen Between us a silent war had begun—a war of egos, where every look was a challenge and every praise she received felt like a personal insult to me

She was the intruder and I was the king who had lost his throne The air in the house was no longer filled with just love it was thick with my resentment a silent vow that I would never let her win She was two years younger than me but in those two years she had mastered the art of making me look like a villain

Viraaj she's smaller than you! Give her the toy!bmy mother would snap

Those words were like poison to my ears My parents who once never denied me a single thing were now constantly shouting at me because of her. Every time I refused to share my cricket bat or my favorite car, I was labeled as selfish

The most frustrating part? She wasn't even my real blood There was no biological bond just a title forced upon us She was an intruder who had walked in and demanded a share of my kingdom

I hated how she looked at me when I was being scolded—that tiny hidden smirk that only I could see. She knew exactly what she was doing Every time my father told me to be a man and let her have her way my ego burned with a dark fire

I wanted to humiliate her to make her fall in the eyes of my parents just like she was making me fall But every plan I made backfired Instead of making her look bad I ended up looking like a bitter jealous son in front of my own family

She's a child Viraaj Learn to be big-hearted they would say

But I didn't want a big heart I wanted my throne back I wanted the house to go back to the way it was before she arrived. Every sacrifice I was forced to make for her only added another brick to the wall of hatred I was building

I wasn't her uncle I was her rival And I promised myself that one day the tables would turn The girl who was currently my family's favorite would one day realize that I was the one who held the real power
