Chapter 13 - What Happened to Being a Gourmet?

[System Notification]

Congratulations to the host for successfully arriving at a new travel destination — Shells Town.

Reward obtained: The Six Powers of the Marines.

Would you like to extract and integrate them now?

By now, Xia Yu had more or less figured out the system's reward pattern.

When he first arrived at Windmill Village, he received the reward of the three types of Haki.

Although Windmill Village was small and tucked away in the corner of the East Blue, it had produced a legendary figure like Marine Hero Garp, as well as the future captain of the Straw Hat Pirates—Luffy, that goofy kid.

Even though Luffy was still young now, he was born with Conqueror's Haki, and later, under the training of Silvers Rayleigh, he would master both Observation Haki and Armament Haki, becoming a true wielder of all three types of Haki.

So even though Windmill Village was small, it still had everything it needed.

Then Xia Yu left Windmill Village and arrived at Shimotsuki Village.

Ten years later, that same village would produce Roronoa Zoro, the Three-Sword Style swordsman who would one day shake the Grand Line.

Naturally, the reward Xia Yu received there was Swordsmanship.

Now he had arrived at Shells Town.

Although there were no famous figures here, the town did have a Marine Branch Base.

Under those circumstances, receiving the Six Powers of the Marines as a reward made perfect sense.

After decisively choosing to integrate the ability, Xia Yu's ability panel immediately gained a new entry:

Six Powers LV5

The Six Powers consisted of:

SoruTekkaiKami-eGeppoRankyakuShigan

Since he obtained them directly at LV5, it meant that every technique—from Soru to Shigan—had already reached Level 5.

Perfect.

Traveling around the world while continuously acquiring powerful abilities from this world—

That was simply perfect.

Just as Xia Yu finished integrating the Six Powers, another system voice echoed in his mind.

[System Notification]

New mission activated.

Host must immediately go to Central Street in Shells Town, locate a shop called "Don't Miss It If You Pass By", take over the shop as its owner, and sell all the items in the store at their listed prices.

"Huh?"

Xia Yu froze.

"A shop? Selling goods?"

"Not selling fried rice…?"

"Wasn't I supposed to become a gourmet…?"

The streets of Shells Town were bustling with activity.

Residents, merchants, travelers, and even bounty hunters who made a living capturing pirates were all rushing toward the plaza of Marine Base 153 as if they had all been injected with adrenaline.

Xia Yu, who had just entered the town after receiving the mission, blinked in confusion as he watched people running past him nonstop.

"What's going on?"

"Is there some big festival in Shells Town today?"

Just as Xia Yu walked toward Central Street with a puzzled expression, a man suddenly ran into him and stumbled and fell to the ground.

"Hey!"

Seeing the young man fall, Xia Yu blinked slowly.

"Are you alright?"

"I'm fine!"

The man quickly got up and bowed apologetically.

"Sorry! I was just too excited…"

"I think it's not just you. The whole town looks like it's on stimulants."

Xia Yu interrupted him and asked curiously,

"Can you tell me what's happening here? Is it a big party or some traditional festival?"

"Oh, don't misunderstand—I'm a traveler. I just arrived in Shells Town."

"A traveler?"

The young man looked Xia Yu up and down before smiling.

"Then you came at the perfect time!"

"The most infamous pirate in the East Blue—Kuro of a Hundred Plans has been captured by the Marines this morning!"

"The Marine Colonel is preparing to publicly execute him, so everyone is rushing over to watch!"

"Kuro?"

"Kuro of a Hundred Plans?"

Xia Yu paused before asking casually,

"Captured by a Marine named Morgan?"

"You… how do you know that?"

The young man stared at him in shock.

"Didn't I say? I'm a traveler. I hear things."

Xia Yu smiled.

"So Morgan's already been promoted to Ensign, right?"

"Yes!"

The young man said excitedly.

"Ensign Morgan is the hero of our town now!"

"Alright, go watch the execution."

Xia Yu waved with a smile.

"Sorry for keeping you."

After saying that, Xia Yu turned and continued walking toward Central Street.

Kuro, captain of the Black Cat Pirates, was one of the most notorious pirates in the East Blue.

He was famous for his cunning schemes and ruthless methods, earning him the title "Kuro of a Hundred Plans."

In the original story, he once slaughtered an entire Marine ship sent to capture him.

Later, he had his subordinate Jango hypnotize Morgan into believing he had captured Kuro, handing over a fake body so Morgan could claim the credit—allowing the real Kuro to vanish from the world's sight

So Xia Yu didn't need to think to know that the Marine execution today was actually for a fake Kuro.

Still, he was a little surprised.

He hadn't expected to arrive in Shells Town just as Morgan returned with the fake Kuro.

Which meant—

The real chaos in Shells Town was about to begin.

Morgan, now hailed as a hero by the townspeople, would gradually become their worst nightmare after being manipulated by hypnosis.

Soon, Xia Yu arrived at the shop designated by the system.

When he saw the sign hanging above the entrance that read:

"Don't Miss It If You Pass By"

Xia Yu immediately covered his face with one hand.

Black lines instantly formed across his forehead.

"Young man, you won't be able to enter that shop."

At that moment, a hoarse voice sounded behind him.

Turning around, Xia Yu saw a middle-aged woman standing in front of a food store across the street.

Judging by her appearance, she was likely the owner.

Seeing him look over, she kindly warned him.

"That shop is very strange. No one knows who the owner is, and nobody has ever been able to open the door."

"Just a few days ago, two thieves tried to break in. But the moment they touched the doors and windows, they were blown away instantly!"

"Later they tried to burn the shop down, but they failed—and the Marines arrested them."

After hearing her explanation, Xia Yu immediately understood the situation.

Clearly, the shop was a system-created property.

Before he arrived, nobody could enter it—or even damage it.

Smiling at the woman, Xia Yu said,

"It seems this shop has caused everyone some trouble. Sorry about that. I bought this place years ago but left to travel around the world. Now I'm back to reopen it."

As the woman stared in shock—

Xia Yu casually pushed open the tightly sealed door and walked inside.

The moment he stepped through the entrance—

His eyes widened instantly.

"Holy—"

"What the hell is this?!"
