By now, it felt normal.
Dave and Sophia were always together through class, walks, late-night texts.
But they weren't the same.
Sophia didn't think too much about things.
She moved on quickly, didn't stress, didn't look too deep.In a summary she was nonchalant
Dave was different.He was awfully too chalant and it was his greatest weakness but people usually said that is was good .
He noticed everything.
Every message. Every pause. Every little change.

"You guys are always together," someone said one day.
Sophia smiled. "We're just friends."
Dave nodded and laughed awkwardly
But that word didn't feel so simple to him.

Later that afternoon, they sat together like usual.
Sophia's phone buzzed.
She checked it and smiled.
Dave noticed.
"Who is that?" he asked.
"Just someone," she said.
Dave nodded. "Okay."
But his mind stayed there longer than hers did.

As they were leaving, she spoke again.
"Dave."
"Yeah?"
"I want you to meet someone."
He looked at her. "Who?"
She smiled.
"My boyfriend."
Dave paused and his vision went blur .
"Oh," he said after getting his self together
That was all.But inside, his thoughts didn't stop.
....
That night, he lay on his bed, staring at the ceiling.
My boyfriend.
She said it so easily.The words echoed in his head like an empty room.
Like it didn't change anything.
But to Dave, it did.
....
His phone buzzed.A text from Sophia
"You're quiet."
"I'm just tired," he replied.
"Don't be weird."
"I'm not."
"Okay."
....
The next day, she smiled like always.
"Good morning."
"Morning," Dave replied.
Everything looked the same.
But it didn't feel the same.
....
Sophia didn't think too much but Dave did and slowly...…..that difference was starting to matter.
