Riley's POV
My heart pounds against my ribs as Caleb speaks, his voice carrying that familiar hesitant tone that makes my stomach flutter.
"I know I promised to give you space to process everything, so showing up at your window last night probably crossed a line. But I couldn't shake these thoughts running through my head."
His confession comes out bashful, almost vulnerable. Heat creeps up my neck as I ask, "What kind of thoughts?"
The sound of his movement fills the quiet room as he approaches. His hands find my desk chair, spinning it toward him before he drops to his knees in front of me. Those piercing eyes lock onto my mouth, and I watch him struggle to lift his gaze to meet mine.
"I kept thinking about how no one had ever kissed you before. About the way your lips felt against mine. The urge to come see you was driving me crazy. I'm sorry if I pushed too hard, too fast."
