I remain seated in the quiet room, my eyes moving from one sleeping face to another. My family surrounds me in peaceful slumber.
Even after everything that has happened, Caleb still dreams of this life. He still envisions us united, content, whole. Throughout all the dark nights I spent wondering what would await me if I ever found my way back home, I never dared hope for this reality. The truth overwhelms me now. His heart never wavered. He never sought solace elsewhere.
All this time, he has been holding vigil for my return, just as I have been fighting to get back to him. This space, these people, this love - it has always been my true home. Caleb and our children represent everything I have yearned for. Mason and Silas, Jace and Zoey form the foundation of our chosen family. Even Theo and Freya, though I had not fully understood their place before, clearly belong within our circle.
