Chapter 6 - The Sovereign Awakens

The world did not return.

Zain stood in darkness.

Not empty.

Not silent.

Threads stretched across the void.

Countless.

Interwoven into a vast, incomprehensible tapestry. Each strand pulsed faintly—some steady, some flickering, some already fading into nothing.

They twisted.

Knotted.

Severed.

Rewoven.

Zain watched.

Still.

Unblinking.

"…So this is the mechanism."

A thread near him flared—

Then snapped.

It vanished without resistance.

Zain observed the absence briefly.

Then looked away.

The tapestry shifted.

The darkness bent.

Zain fell.

There was no direction.

Only descent.

The threads stretched into distant light—

Then disappeared.

A horizon formed.

Endless.

Frozen.

Zain landed.

His Sea of Consciousness.

An infinite expanse of ice spread in all directions, smooth and undisturbed. Beneath its прозрач surface, dim light pulsed slowly, buried deep beneath layers of cold.

Cracks traced the sea.

Thin.

Precise.

Unmoving.

Zain looked down.

At the center—

His Frost Core.

A pale mass of frozen light rested beneath the surface. It pulsed steadily, each beat sending faint fractures through the ice before sealing them instantly.

Contained.

Perfect.

"…A core."

Above—

The sky formed.

A moon appeared.

A frozen crescent.

Incomplete.

Suspended in stillness.

Its light was dim.

Cold.

Distant.

Zain studied it.

"…Not whole."

Silence followed.

Then—

The Spell spoke.

[First Nightmare completed.]

The frozen sea trembled faintly.

[Evaluation in progress…]

Zain waited.

[Evaluation complete.]

[Performance: Exceptional][Ingenuity: High][Adaptability: Extreme][Efficiency: Optimal]

A pause.

[Your performance was… acceptable.]

Zain's lips curved faintly.

"…Of course."

The Spell continued.

[Aspect has evolved.]

The frozen sea fractured.

Deep lines spread outward—

Then stopped.

[Aspect: Sovereign of Frost][Aspect Rank: Divine]

Cold deepened.

The sea stilled again.

[Aspect Description:]You stand above the dominion of cold. Frost, ice, and entropy are not tools to you—they are extensions of your will. Where others endure winter, you define it.

Zain's eyes lingered on the words.

"…Ambitious."

Power surged upward from the Frost Core.

[Innate Ability acquired.][Cytokinesis]

[Ability Description:]Your body is no longer bound by natural limitation. Flesh, bone, and blood obey your intent. Damage can be corrected. Structure can be altered. You are both architect and inhabitant of your form.

Zain flexed his fingers slightly.

Everything felt… clear.

"…Efficient."

The Spell continued.

[Aspect Ability acquired.]

[Frost Manipulation]

[Ability Description:]Temperature yields to your authority. You may extract heat, impose cold, and manifest frost. The world resists—but it will yield.

A thin layer of frost spread across the frozen sea.

Zain watched it briefly.

Then looked forward.

"…Tyrant."

A faint smile.

"…Accurate."

The light shifted.

Zain did not move.

A pause.

[Your capacity for self-preservation is… questionable.]

Zain blinked once.

A quiet laugh escaped him.

"…You say that like it matters."

He looked up at the frozen crescent moon.

"Rime of Ruin…"

The name settled easily.

"…I'll keep it."

The frozen sea trembled.

Cracks spread—

Then sealed.

The horizon collapsed.

The Spell lingered.

[Your performance was observed.]

[Your methods… inefficient.]

[Your results… acceptable.]

A pause.

[Your fun has no bounds.]

Silence returned.

Zain smiled.

Wider this time.

"…High praise."

Then—

The Spell spoke one final time.
